my parents are one of those asians. they worry about school marks over everything else. thats why i never show them my report cards unless its good... my mom doesnt even like it when i get a b...
I have parents like this too. But now I realize it's a Chinese mentality. It dates all the way back to Confucius' days, and I could go on and on about it. But yeah, part of the reason why Chinese civilization was so successful was because we emphasize education. So, listen to your parents and get good grades! It's for your good!
yeh they just want the best for you, plus who else is going to push you to get those grades and better yourself
my parents do care but i take the report befor they do so they dont know what i get lol lol lol lol lol
yah my parents are really strict with grades.... and my extracurricular activities. TO them, me getting a B is like failing. Sometimes i wish they could just give me a break.
i think so but this is also true of other cultures (like India people). more stress is always stressed on academics than anything else.
i heard a story about a person lie'n to there parents saying they got accepted and go to this prestigious university when in fact they just live on campus... they arn't actually even enrolled in any classes... i don't know the details, but expectations are driving asians to the extremes

i actually have nvr showed my parents my marks, and they nvr asked...actually in HS when i did, it was only cuz it was all 95%, but they said it wasnt high enoguh lol...geez.....parents
Indeed it's true. That's why most chinese people who have parents like that are bookworms. They strive for their future first
mine do, even till the day i am done university they are still worried about your marks, thats cuz parents use their kids as their defense tool to compare with others kids
^ Nice, lol. My parents are always home so they always open my mail, not to mention a report card. I think it's impossible for me to hide my grades from them. I also feel that Asian parents are more worried than others. I mean, when I talk to my non-Asian friends, they're all like "Oh yeah, my parents just told me to do better next time." Like, "WHAT?!" Asian parents are not like that.
my parents always get angry when they see my report because ive never came 1st in anything…come like 2nd and they get pissed…well my English at school isn’t that good come like 120/210 but I go to a smart and hectic school and they would be like OMG…we’r wasting money on ur English tutoring…2 many Chinese parents really want their kids to be望子成龙望女成凤 but they need 2 facea reality…but then again I could work harder
