I dont know why people let their kids read the bible... to be honest it is a pretty filthy read in some parts... the bible contains rape, incest, stoning, sex, gay bashing, slavery and torture, and yet parents force the book onto their children and in many cases, make them memorize the stories told within "There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses." -Ezekiel 23:20 I mean honestly... if a book like the bible were published today, it would only sell in XXX video/book stores.
