or maybe #1 book in the world.. DAN BROWN'S DA VINCI CODE! -coolio some of his other books are good too! like angels and demons! deception point
Forget to mention books about history ... well novels with historical background. From Umberto Eco : - The name of the rose , far more intriguing than the movie with the same name. - Foucault´s Pendulum , again about lost treasure of the Templars.
LOL, I was trying to get my paws on Witch Child at the local library with little luck >.< But Hannibal is good if you get the patiences to read through every single one of them in the series. Didn't like it, too preachy to my taste. But I can understand why many loved the book... It's almost like a novel-length Chicken Soup... =_=b
I am definitely a fan of Dan Brown... I got ALL his books (at least the ones I have seen in the book stores) Well, four of them actually -> Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Digital Fortress and Deception Point. Haven't read the last one though. I like his thorough research in his work, I feel his books are very informative in a way -^_^ Being a horror fan, I am also in love with Stephen King's books... The last book I have read of his is The Cell, which is quite interesting. Reminds me of the movie Pulse. If you are into chick literature, go for Sophie Kinsella, she's really humorous (start with The Confession of a Shopaholic), Marian Keyes (The Other Side of the Story/Angels), If you want some touching books, try Dorothy Koomson's My Best Friend's Girl, or Kim Edwards' The Memory Keeper's Daughter. I have read Thomas Harris' Hannibal too... i bought it for AUS $3 when I was in Sydney! Lol. It's definitely an interesting read. I am currently reading Diary of a Mad Mother-to-be by Laura Wolf, and can't wait to get my hands on HARRY POTTER!!! (and the Deathly Gallows... got all the collection)
Loved Dan Brown, my favourite is Angels and Demons (partially because I got the plot figured out before it was revealed -tongue2) Didn't like the Shopaholic series, probably since I didn't feel for Becky the protagonist =_=b
^Hehe I only feel for Becky at first, but after she met the rich, handsome guy.. uhm it just sounded like a fairytale to me.. <_< So I didn't get the whole series (only read the first book) but it was pretty hilarious nonetheless, and I got her "Domestic Goddess" too. Try Marian Keyes or Laura Wolf. They are funny as hell too Oh now I remember another author, Amy Tan. She's one of my favourites too, read Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God and a few more (can't remember them off my head now). I think I have her To save A Drowning Fish or sth, but haven't read it yet hehehe.
In fact, I don't read that much Chick Lit now that I've discovered my love for Fantasy and Sci-fi Now you've mentioned books from my reading list back from high school, I must add to it anything F Scott Fitzgerald. Love his style and his disillusioned American Dream. Haruki Murakami is a fan of his writing too! And Neil Gaiman, did I fail to mention Neil Gaiman? Love his rich, dark, broody style -tongue2
^Any good horror writers to recommend? Besides Stephen King.. it's hard to find someone I like besides him.
On print, I prefer suspense more than horror, so thriller/mystery type is my thing. I liked Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, Robert Louis Stevenson and some Conan Doyle (not necessary Sherlock Holmes).
^LOL, I have tried reading Agatha Christie.. My mom was a fan. But I guess I was still young at the time, and didn't get most of her books. I hated her writing style. Maybe I'll take a look at it again... Uhm, those are pretty old writers.. Any new ones?
Not really... Most of them end up being hyped-up's >.< Not to mention just these older writers occupy me plenty with their avalanche worthy number of volumes -sweat
Read Underground before reading After Dark. It`s a brilliant documentation of the terrorist attack in the Tokyo subway system.
I have that book, stopped reading it around a 1/3rd into it. My favourite is Kafka, but Norwegian wood and Sputnik my sweetheart are great as well, some other books of his are also nice reads but I think those are my top 3 from his work that I have read. .and you? Which books did you like from him?
FOr fictions: any book by Dan Brown, Harlan Coben, James Patterson and my all time favorite SIDNEY SHELDON =)
Ah, Sidney Sheldon... Just did a wiki on him and realized he passed away on Jan 30th, 2007 -down Well I like his books too and have read The Best Laid Plans,Tell Me Your Dreams and the Sky Is Falling. Might have read one or two more, but can't remember the titles now.
I read "Tell me your dreams" a while back on my flight back home. The story was great and kinda rimind me of the movie call "Tell me something".
Yea, so sad that he passed away The first book ive read from his collection is, If tomorrow comes...and have read all of his books since then
