My absolute favourite is somewhere between Norwegian Wood, Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World and The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. My most well read volume was HbWatEotW just because I loved the parallelism -sweat

I liked Sputnik Sweetheart on my first few reads, but later on it got a bit... overly (and superficially) dramatic for a Murakami book -tongue2

But out of all his works, I love his travelling journal the most. I am not sure if they are released in English though (I read them in Chinese translation)

The Power of One, by Bruce Courtenay, is really good. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_of_One

for fantasy, Stephen King's The Dark Towers series is really good...different from the usual faerie/dragon/prince/magic stuff.

I'm just waiting for the Harry Potter "The Deathly Hollows" coming out in Malaysia on my birthday on the 21st July~ Hopefully the ending isn't horrible or collecting the books would be a horrible waste of time.

i highly recommend the book "how to kill your husband" by katty lette to all the girls to read...this book is really funny, sexy and wise... it deals with the life of women who was married, and are not sastify by their life, their husband....
    some quotes from the book:
"All husbands think they're gods. If only their wives weren't atheists..."
"if he wants breakfast in the bed. tell him to sleep in the kitchen."
"i'm having my period so can therefore legally kill you."

And also other book like: "all these space between us" by Thrity Umrigar ... and "can you heard the bird sing" by Anita Rau Badami .. two beautifull books talking about the conditions of womens in India and how a life can be down and down....these books are more serious (and really sad...)

Wow all this Murakami talk has sparked my curiosity, not to mention that I just came across a book of Murakami's to be won at my local radio station.. so gonna try for that ;) (Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman)
And also maybe look out for his books at my local book store soon.
