^ trust me, if you got bent teeth then your gona look worse than ugly betty in the long run so braces may be for the best.
i bet no one here had braces longer than i did - 7 yrs!!! i never listen to what they say about not eating hard food/chips etc, i eat just like a normal person do; my parents are always asking doc how many more yrs it will take; i never bother to find out or ask, when is done is done... i didn't have them because of cosmetics, is more like my k9 is growing into a different position and just trying to pull it down...
i think the answer as to why you wore the braces for 7 years is rather obvious. you're not supposed to eat hard food because it will put pressure on your teeth and all. had you listened to you dentist, i am sure you probably didn't need to wear it that long.
my orthodontist said i would have my braces off in 3 years, and in those 3 years, i ate anything i wanted, hard food included. my braces broke only once and i still managed to take them off in a little less than 3 years.

nope, thats not the reason; because after they pull the teeth down, they switch the k9 into another position, and had to move one of the tooth to where k9 is supposed to be so moving things around and then align the rest (he wanted to do it) and in the end i don't have to loose extra tooth;
I can't really said it's a fail to those that are screened out of the topic.. I mean we will never have the experience of wearing braces and non would we ever want to... *shrug* double post ^^
aww dude! yes it is annoying but how long have u got yo have it for? look on the bright side, its for FREE! lol
