dude i don't care what kinda Dvd you use.. there is no way in hell that a DVD will leave out the audio and yet have the video file burned on to it perfectly... unless it's like some new futuristic dvd she's using... so the problem is def. not a media issue.
assman..not saying the prob is the media..ur assuming too much here..have to try all the possible scenario to find the right one..otherwise we're just pulling random shit and telling her to do it...process of elimination...
yea elimination but you gotta see what's happing here. Video file is fine... but once burned onto DVD there is no more audio... well i assume it has something to do with Nero. So i dunno if she tried to use an older version...
agreed, it works fine on pc, but when sent to dvd, issues. so you have to consider everything: -Problem with Nero?-Hence try nero 6 or another ripping too -Problem with the dvd itself?-Hence try rippin it to another brand of dvd -Trying ripping another video, smaller, to dvd and see results? -What happened to previous rips that you did?*This is an important one!!! -Anything changed in the time u did the last rip and this one?
Thanks for helping me out guys. I really appreciate it. -Right, since both of you have suggested NERO 6, I will download that. -The DVDs I'm using is some weird brand called "Playo". I was using Maxell before this, and have successfully burned almost an entire movie series. 3/4 way through, I ran out of Maxell DVDs so I resorted to the "Playo" ones and continued to burn the rest of the series with no problems. So the switch in DVD brands seems to have had no effect on the burning process whatsoever. -Like I said, I've already successfully burned an entire movie series prior to burning this current one. Everything turned out perfect, good audio and awesome visuals. But these files were .avi and I assume they were DVD ripped because of the great quality. The ones that I am trying to burn now are .wmv, not .avi, and the quality isn't so great. Though I'm not sure if that makes much of a difference. -So I guess ^ answers this question also. -No, nothing has changed between the period of my last burning process. I was trying to burn one series after another so I didn't change anything at all. And since you guys think the "afterdawn" peeps are so great, do you guys think it'd be a good idea for me to get some additional reference from them as well?
nah ok I think i know what the problem is... you're actually Ripping the WMV videos into DVD... Not direct ISO Burn. So if you used Nero to convert the videos then I'm most certainly that it's probably Nero. If you're going to convert the video... use another program like WINAVI or something. After all the files are converted... Go to Nero... New Compilation.... DVD-VIDEO... drag all files from Video_TS folder in and burn.
nah ok I think i know what the problem is... you're actually Ripping the WMV videos into DVD... Not direct ISO Burn. -I am? -huh But all I'm doing is adding the media files onto the DVD: 1. "Make Your Own DVD-Video" 2. "Add Video Files" (which are stored on my desktop) 3. "Burn" So how is it that I am ripping them? So if you used Nero to convert the videos then I'm most certainly that it's probably Nero. If you're going to convert the video... use another program like WINAVI or something. After all the files are converted... Go to Nero... New Compilation.... DVD-VIDEO... drag all files from Video_TS folder in and burn. -So you're suggesting that I should download winAVI, convert the video files, and then try burning them? Oh yeah, and my files are not stored in a Video_TS folder. They're all seperate files...
well thats probably the problem... Ok Ok!!! I Got it!! You're using Nero Express aren't you??? since you're clicking the create your own dvd-video... it's automatically going to convert it so it's in DVD format.... Ok forget everything... just get WinAVI... some1 has a crack somewhere I believe... convert the video and then burn with nero. Just make sure that whenever you have a Video DVD there are always files stored in the VIDEO_TS folder.. otherwise it's not DVD-Video and thus unable to play in dvd player!!
oh and i'm off to sleep again... your problem is too damn tiring -lol. now that we've gotten to the source... which i believe is the case... you should be fine... if not jus hit me up.
Okay, so I've done as you said and downloaded winAVI. Now I'm in the process of converting... I'll let you know how it goes when I finish. Thanks! Have a nice nap This is going to be a very long and tiring process since I have 20 files I'll need to convert... *sob*
AHHHHHHH! IT WORKSSS!!!! FINALLY! -bigclap -clapclap Ecko, you are god-sent!!!!! Thanks for putting up with me throughout this whole ordeal -sweat I owe you one, big bro! lol
heheh... yes... I'm good -bigsmile... -lol... but yea... see I knew somethin just didn't seem right... but yes glad you got it all sorted out... and feel free to thank me anytime by getting me some Haagen Dazs Ice Cream -drool
hi ecko, i kinda have a similar problem. ok here goes...i have a dvd player that plays divx and stukk 4 my tv. so i dont have to wast dvds n time to burn and encode. so i burn avi and watch them. they usually work but i dont no why some of them are missing audio. picture and imported subs r fine but just no audio. the file on my hd is fine audio n everything. when i put the cd that i burn into my cdr it has audio. so, i thought i might try to conert it to a dvd, but when trying to do so, with avi2dvd, there was no source audio. ?????can u help me ?? thank u
1. so your player can play avi direct, right, then maybe it just cant play that file since it is a dvd player and will be limited on what codecs it has 2. are you trying to burn them as dvd? did you convert first (try using winAVi always works for me) then burn the dvd video files (vob) using nero
ya know with Avi it's really hard to say.... because it could have been encoded in a different audio/video codec that may not be compatible with your Divx player... So yea... if you have Winavi... try using that and re-encode the Avi file. Like as in selecting the Divx or Xvid codec on there and then encode. See if it's compatible then... will come back for more ideas soon.. gotta go... peace -sorc
yea re-encode the avi to divx again just incase the avi is liked encoded so it's not compatible with your divx player... Also have you checkd what is compatible with your divx player??
