A VW Golf? You can't be serious! You're gonna kill yourself in that thing. Out of those options I would say Civic. Ever been behind the wheel in one of those? It's kinda cool like a spaceship. Oh and have you thought about a Mini?

LOL your parents sound like my parents :shifty:

You don't necessarily have to start with a small car.. when I first started learning to drive my parents made me drive a Toyota Avalon which was pretty long & I also drove two minivans. My dad even made sure my driving instructor had a car that wasn't small hahaha. They said I'd have to learn how to drive a normal sized car sooner or later. Currently driving a Honda Accord :]

&besides, too small of a car = seriously injured or even dead if you ever get in an accident. Thats why my dad refused to get me a Mini Cooper D:

    LOL wow baller, 25000 - 30000.

I'd say you should get a second-hand vehicle with that cash. You can probably get a second hand civic that's no older than 2007 for about 20 - 25k. You also don't need to pay freight and delivery for second hand vehicles, so you can resolve the gold issue a little bit.

I would say a Honda civic is a good choice. It is very reliable and good looking car. I have many friends that drive this car and only hear good things about it.

Even though you've already chosen, I would have recommended the VW Golf or Polo.
My second car was a Polo and they are very easy to drive :)

used car, spend extra cash on upgrades... or winter driving lessons or track day with a 'real' sports car

Get a used one. Less heartache if you get dings and scratches.
