Well pple buying new cars in england this year will have the no. 8 on their plate, guess i think nothing of it. If i see a chinese behind the wheel, i prob. realise they chose the number on purpose but even then, i think nothing of it cos its one of those things that i think most chinese have unconsciously. Wen i play the lottery once in a while i usually choose the number 8, nt for good luck or anyting, jus cos it feels like i shd.
I personally wouldn't choose the number 8 in my car number plate or in my passwords etc. I would prefer to use 3 (alive) or 9 (eternality), but I am definitely not supersitious. Each time I see a car with more than one "8" in the number plate, especially an expensive car like Merc or BMW, it really pisses me off. I would in my mind curse at the driver about how greedy one person can be - you bloody got an expensive car already how much more do you want? Where do you want to draw the line?
i hear that my uncle said the same ...ur license plate have more than 1 8 is not good ...it'll give u a sign of bad luck . (very superstitious)
Phone numbers are very important to chinese ppl with 8's in it...my family always wants 8 in numbers and liscence plates
i never saw the number 8 as a lucky number or w/e maybe it cos how i was brought up in a multi cultural society... though my parents or family have never had any kind of superstition with the number 8

i think nothing negative or positive towards the owner. i'm not a fan of the # 8 but my siblings love it. i prefer # 9 =]
i think it's all superstitious rubbish, my mom is like that One year my dad brought home my new plates that has 8's, cause my mom told him to. She got angry at him because it had "588", which means "no wealth" in canto? anyways, I thought it was frickin funny.
Hmm... but you can also think of it this way... having three 8's... 888 8 x 3 = 24 Then say 2 and 4 together in Cantonese. What does it sound like? 二四 = 易死 Exactly! It's bad luck! lol :laugh:
actually everytime i see a car plate similar to 888 or many 8s...i will look at it..and usually is a very beautiful car and a man inside...hehe...i must admit that it is an attention grabber...cuz the first think we think is...how rich that person could be...and of course i wouldnt mind my car plate to have at least one 8 and no 4...just tradition...hehe
