I don't think you can pay for the USD price in a Canadian store... not most stores anyways. That suggested retail price on the book (in various currencies) is only applicable wherever you are (i.e.: CAD in Canada, USD in US) They can of course take your USD, but you are not paying for the USD price, but a converted CAD price. It is BY LAW that they can't sell goods in USD price (but they can take USD and do conversions into CAD and ask for CAD price)
Really...didn't know that one...although what you say makes sense... I'm not convinced as it is clearly stated in the product...I'm gonna try it when I have the time to go to chapters. Would you know which law? or is it by case history?
No clue. It's just that I overheard that "policy" when I saw a tourist trying to pay for goods in foreign currencies So I can't even say for certain that it's true. Although I thought it make sense... otherwise the Canadian retailers are going to have a tough time with people trying to pay the lower, USD price -sweat Oh and, besides books, you can try with certain clothing retailers, I think MEXX has their price listed in various currencies. -tongue2
LOL at first i thought CDN meant the currency in china i was like WTF??? lol anyway this just means i'll be getting more money from my family when i go to canada this year -cool
hehe.. just found out from a friend. He buys books at the US price at the store that he goes too. Mainly, the people there knows US and CDN is a par, so he pays the CDN at the US price listing. According to the people in the store, it actually generates more sales and it is no loss anyways b/c they are charge at US price.
that makes sense... they dont lose money, and he saves money =) BUT! once the canadian loonie weakens, the us store will lose money lol
well according to my friend, they are still making a profit...they been selling to my friend like that for the last three months...the US list price is for the customer, so the distributer still charge less in US.
LOL, and I would have thought that Canadian retailers are too backwards to think of creative ways to boost sales -sweat I guess some stores still charges the CAD price (extra margin of profit, yay -tongue2)
good luck buddy. go pay for custom fees plus import fees plus shit load fees.. might as well buy a car here. if that wouldve been possible, i wouldve been rolling in an evo IX down cumberland street..
well u're ugly so customs prob won't let u go to the states but for me....ill b importing scions to toronto...vrrrooooming down bloor st...sucka
hmm whats that? hmm thats funny, cuz i just went to the states last week.. im sure customs wont let you pass cuz youre a dumbass for getting a scion, out of all cars, and rolling on poor bloor street instead of cumberland where the rich peeps at.
I'm canadian x_x'' its not my fault that CDN currency is higher and its almost the same as USD x_x'' SOME stores in Canada accept USD.....thats only the tourist place tho...
