Seriously, Went there to eat some Dim Sum and seriously the only people I was where old people everywhere. The building too there are kind of old and run down.
Guess it's almost universal that chinatowns over the world are crowded with rude individuals and hardly any parking space to find. I try not to go there unless it's really necessary, like when my parents ask me to have lunch with them and I do love chinese food... Otherwise I've nothing to seek there and don't want to become a familiar face there.
Chinatown is a place for HK/China people to get the same feeling as if they were still there:My Opinion:. Ex: Gambling, Restaurants, Bargaining, etc..
I often go to China Town in Rotterdam and The Hague and it is definitly not the same as in Hong Kong. Just give me the crowd, cos the netherlands is too fricking boring and cold/rainy!! The dim sum palace is for chinese people much better than the mac or other restaurant cos the are not so expensive and you can eat in a relaxed environment compared with a dutch restaurant. (in my opinion). Besides that, Chinatown is indeed a not-to-find-a-parking-spot-area, but that isn't such a big deal to me. Plus, in chinatown there are chinese supermarkets that sell better food!
Chinatown in Toronto is mostly occupied by either Early Immigrants or Vietnamese. I have no idea why. Most of those who live in that area are either like 5th generation Canadian Chinese, or illegal immigrants (or so I've heard) It is kind of dirty, with grim and dirty water on the sidewalk, but the food there is good :9 Great Vietnamese buns!
Yea I dislike it for the reasons most already mentioned. I only go there to eat and get bootlegged stuff lol.
i've only been to two china towns, the one in San Francisco and the one in London, i'm based in UK so been to the London one a lot, copared to San Francisco, the one in London is tiny... only go there to eat usually and usually go there if i need to go to London for whatever other reason. It's ok, but the one in San Francisco seemed better, more restaurants.... and lot more streets... the one in London seems to have one main street and a few other smaller streets.
i've only been to toronto & nyc chinatown.. since i'm always hanging around nyc chinatown, i'm use to the way it is, but compared to toronto, nyc chinatown is like a garbage dump hahas i prefer toronto chinatown, it's more hk..
lol u like toronto's but its still really dirty..im tlkin about the downtown one..not like uptown plazas....i don't remember wat nyc chintown looks like
i hate going to chinatown. it smells, it's dirty, it's crowded, people are rude, and the people who yell from their stores to get you to buy stuff, they yell in your ear hella loud!!i would be fine never going there again, BUT i am forced to go with my mom when she buys stuff.
For me, there's nothing to do in chinatown. Everywhere, I only see meat shops, vegetable shops, and herb shops here and there and of course a few restaurants. I've never been there with my friends, only with relatives at a very young age...haven't been there for a while since there's nothing to do there Yes, its crowded..but really dirty? nah not crazy dirty but still dirty. and things there are cheap of course since they're all no name china imported products anyways. lol what's really funny is when night market time comes around...there's no point going to the chinatown nightmarket since all the shops are basically bringing out their goods from within their stores out on the streets to sell XD
I live like 2 blocks away from a Chinatown in my area. I'm fine with it and it's actually more comfortable for me.
no china town herer ;_; but when i was in London, we went to china town... sooo gr8t~~ those good meals... noodles...~~~-drool
I live in Montreal and our Chinatown, while not overly large, has quite a few establishments and sees it's fair share of good and bad days. There's this one shop that sells awesome cheap bootlegs and I usually spend around $80 bucks there once a month during the summer. I also stock up on Pocky while I'm there. Sure, it's Japanese but Chinatown has it all!
