too bad there isn't T&T everywhere right? chinatown is alright. I only go there for chinese school, and that's practically on its outskirts. It's not always crowded, except maybe for afternoon. But overall, I wouldn't say it smells too bad, just that one shop that sells fish/crab/etc, and raw unfrozen meat. But really... you go a little south to Richmond and that's your chinatown. Aberdeen, Parker, asians malls even =P
lol, kdotc figured out where i live. and omg... Thank god for T&T, importing things that would otherwise not be able to get here =)
chinatown in london where i live - looks aite...bt normally when i go there - its either 2 see the shops - or 2 go buy cha siu bao or that soya bao ... ;P
I've been to three different ChinaTowns. San Francisco, CA. Los Angeles, CA. Las Vegas, NV. Out of the three, San Francisco has the feeling of "ChinaTown." The crowded streets, and flea market for groceries ... lol. Los Angeles, I don't remember much. As for Las Vegas ... the more civilized of the three. I don't hate ChinaTown but the feeling of ChinaTown is that it's crowded and you can buy a lot of trinkets there. Hate to break it to people .. from what I hear, China's worse. >_>; So we're pretty lucky.
I just went to Chinatown yesterday morning... there doesn't seem to be much activity there. Or maybe it was because I went during the day.
i love china town in vancouver bc it's just that i dunno, you get to see all this old culture of the people who have immigrated over 50 years ago how they have so much chinese influence in the city and living here for over 40 years many of them still can not speak english but if you want to hope over to HKtown, than drive 20 minutes west to Richmond it's just interesting to walk around china town and here all these older folks speaking toi-san (the first wave of chinese immigrants to canda and US) it's also cool to see that they haven't not changed over the past 40 years they still the very same lives that they lived when they first immigrated over and it has such a OLD HK feel, i feel that it's not more of a historical value
bloody hell went to china town in the weekend to get shopping for hot pot to celebrate new year ... london china town was so cramped had to que for half an hour to get to pay at till and so expensive too :(
hmm... been to Chinatowns in calgary, edmonton, toronto, winnipeg, vancouver, san francisco and los angeles... out of all of them i think san francisco has the best one... everything just feels so 'asianesque'... in other cities u will see a fair amount of white people in the chinatown areas, but in san fran you're completely surrounded by squinty eyes and black hair
