when I was in school all my friends were non chinese but as i grew up i'm actually more connected to the chinese friends. much easier to talk to and would understand you more.
A few years back when Nz was still a white dominated country everytime you'd see a Asian it'd be like seeing your own family... You wouldnt believe how hard it was to find a asian person, asian food etc. yes that was a isolating time.. but now theres tonnes of asians everywhere and I dunno I dont think the connection is as strong as wen we were just a isolated group
i'm somehow more connected with cantonese ppl, cuz i grew up while mostly living with a lot of canto neighborhoods. when i was little 'til now. in san francisco i always have cantonese around me, so i'm used to it and connected. but to mandarin ppl, some i feel are kind of connected, but some of them that i go to school with, the mandarin kids mostly acted too serious and they are too much of a hardworker that they kind of ignore w/e that's not as important to life. and some kind of ignored me at school. but the ones that i meet outside of school are mostly nice. but somehow they don't talk as much as cantonese ppl...
Well it really depends how that person fascial expression is. If he look all piss off and stuff, hell no i aint gonna help him, but if it's like a sweety pie, then I have nothing to lose -lol
sometimes manderin people think they're superior to canto ppl and think they're so smart and stuff...i also hate tho "fuginese gangster wannabes" dress so fob and tryta act big..they're ugly..im not haintg..just that some ppl piss me off
helping them out makes me feel more connected with Chinese people, of course then it depends if i'm helping out an old lady, a little child, or an unfriendly looking person, you know?
I will help the foreigner as I expect/hope they will do the same for me when I'm in a foreign country.
I try to avoid my prejudices and help anyone in need. However subconsciously, I think every one of us has an affinity to people who are like ourselves regardless of whether it's race, occupation, personality, gender, or other factors... I easily associate & connect with anyone who is of the same race, has the same occupation, or personality as I do. In regards to helping others, if they appear to be decent, friendly people who ask politely for help, I generally help them regardless of race. If they are rude and entitling, I wouldn't give them the time of day even if they are Chinese!
yea i have that chinese connection thing wen i see old asians lost in the city. i always try to help them out as much as i could when they ask. kinda funny sometimes tho wen old korean ladies ask me for directions in korean nd im like all dumbfounded nd stuff.
hm...i think we should help anyone who's in trouble, regardless of nationality. i dont really feel that i connect with chinese people though. maybe cause im so terrible at speaking it
Exactly how he/she puts it. Generally, people like to be able to others that are very much in common with.
Yeah, I generally have more of a connection to Chinese people, especially Canto people since I'm familiar with the dialect, more so than Mandarin (which I only know a teensy bit of). And of course, we share a similar cultural background as well.
