Everything is edible as long as u know how to make it tasty haha! long time ago I saw an interview of a restaurant in HK that cooks insects as theur specialty... spiders, scorpions, grasshoppers, etc... and they say insects r healthier than seafood lol! lotsa vitamins haha!

i don't think chinese eat everything whats living....bcause not every spcies is in China :p ....but almost everything in China has been 'mapped' and integrated in 'kooking books' ... how would they otherwise feed al those 1.3 billion chinese.

some for westerners 'strange' dishes actually tastes pretty good.....

Haha...I'm Chinese, and I love my food. But I draw the line at exotic food like insects, wildlife (monkeys, tigers, and the rest). The weirdest thing I've tried was octopus tentacles, cut up while it was still alive...the tentacles practically wriggle and squirm in your mouth, and even cling around your tongue...and it was slimy...eurgh! Haha...don't ask me why I tried it. Just for the fun of it I guess...

Nastee, they do a lot of that in Shenzhen. When I went there they had all of these caged animals like monkeys, exotic birds, possums, foxes, wild cats. I was like wtf. How can they eat that shit.

food is food, if its prepared a certain way, sometimes you can't tell the difference between 1 from the other, as long as they don't show you the animals beforehand =]

Haha...well, one man's meat is another man's poison. People actually find exotic food a delicacy

i just agree that chinese's food are in such a great variety...not like the malays and indians in our country(malaysia) where the hawkers only sell the same type of dishes...

I beg to differ. The Malays and Indians actually have a vast array of dishes. Just that the hawkers don't offer them. There's a B&B somewhere in PD where they actually offer you authentic kampung style Malay cuisine, and you get to experience a really different culture altogether. It was a wonderful experience
