Chinese Fear Factor: is there anything we wont eat?

the saying that Chinese people will eat any thing that has back to the sky is
only applicable to Cantonese people, Nothern Chinese usually dont eat half the stuffs Cantonese eat.
Famine is the usual cause; my parents saw people eat TREE BARK, ROOTS, LEAVES, grass, let alone animals.
and yes, cannibalism( eating humans!) exists too in famine times!

that said,
I had personally eaten the following:


intestines of chicken, duck, geese, pig
silkworm---larvae removed from the inside of a cocoon, toasted...yum yum.
snakes of various kind
bamboo worm, cat, dog, rat, bat, turtle.

oh, by the way, cats and dogs do not taste like chicken, ok? okey dokey...[ hehehe]
in countryside where I came from, eating beef will be considered taboo/bad luck, since the cow/bull is a farmer's livelihood. Has anyone wonder where VEAL came from? ---baby cow/bull, now thats gross!

 

We chinese would eat anything that will move.

worms are a GREAT SOURCE of protein. In fact, NASA is doing research on it as well as bacteria as a source of protein for astronuts in long space journeys.
fried earth worms are crespy and yummy with some salt. BWAHAHHAHAHAHA

 

I think many people in asian country eat all moving creature include insects and others. I heard that even now they eat fetus of a baby.......-unsure

I remember reading a book written by some chinese guy long time back. In it was a passage that goes like this :
A poor old soldier took out a piece of meat from his bag and found it infested with maggots. The soldier look at it for a second, then took a bite out of it (meat & worms) and said "Fair's fair. I eat you now that I'm alive, when I'm dead you can eat me"

 

lmao. this stuff grosses me out. altough truths may be told. my parents say they eat snakes and things like that. dad went to china last summer and took pictures, one was a cat being sold probably to be eaten 0.0 the most exotic thing i eaten man.... was shark fin soupp! oo yea.. check this video out.

p.s. about the soup thing, i stoped drinking soup at my house and many places i go for a long time now. lmao. cept shark fin, id get seconds for that ^^
