i think Koreans are more creative than the Chinese. i mean, most (good) Chinese movies are about cops. plus Koreans are much better and scaring the shit outta the audience. xD
I think that Chinese Cinema is heading towards a Hollywood-esque (?) phase where they want to make movies in which "sh*t blows up" to rake in the money. Less story , more wow factor. I used to love chinese movies but koreans are catching up fast. Though US movies are worst, they're remaking asian movies. They are talking of remaking My Sassy Girl. The Departed by Scorsese is a remake of Infernal Affairs.
i like both chinese and korean action movie but not the romantic comedy, i thinks most of it are a bit lame
Chinese Movies! Chinese movies are still my favorite. Undeniably, movies produced by Hong Kong recently have been sub-par, and Korean movies are fast becoming a favorite among the audience. But what is bad about a little fluff? Honestly, I have read some reviews about releases that are a litle too harsh to my liking. Movies like Tokyo Raider/Seoul Raider are great to watch while hanging out with friends or just to pass a little time, as the antics and fight scenes are hilarious and OMG-that-was-cool kind of response. I am not a big fan of tragedy that Koreans tend to embrace, and their storytelling have started to influence Chinese drama. For me, there is just no comparison between Korean and Chinese movies. We have better actors , more intense action, funnier comedy, and face it, they are speaking our language. Reading subtitles in Chinese, for me, is just too much work. Sure, I like Korean movies just as much as the next guy, but hey, I just like Chinese ones even more.
Actually both has their own attraction.. For me.. Healthy comparison will spark good competitive edge for both industry... I do watch Korea, Jap and HK movie.. SELECTIVELY i must say.... My list of good movies that still sticks to my mind are (in no particular order): 1. Chingu ( friend ) Korea - Does anyone has DDL for this? 2. Taeguki (Brotherhood) Korea 3. Brother ( Korea ) 4. To Be with you - Japanese 5. Election 1 n 2 - HK 6. Re-cycle (hk) 7. My Name is Fame - HK 8. Old Boy - Korea That is all i can think of for now..
I personally like Korean movies better, I think they have more "meat" and many of the storylines are better written, however, Chinese movies are nice to watch from time to time, as once in a while, there are worthwhile movies.
