ye i had lor bao gao and nian gao though it was gd old home made rather than bought. also had dumplings.
i miss thos candy boxes for visitors... when i was a kid i used to eat everything before the visitors come n i miss the melon seeds for CNY too T-T
Not sure if anyone had ever try it, but in my dad's family tradition. They would make dumplings where they hide money such as a dime (Canadian coins) and red dates in the dumpling. But not all of the dumplings will have these lucky treasures, only certain amount, usually its 10 red dates and 10 coins. Every new year, the day will start with the eating of dumpings. If you picked more of the dumplings that contains the coins, it will mean that you will make more money this year and if you picked more of the dumplings that contains the red dates, it will mean that you will have a lot of good luck this year. Usually I stopped eating once I get 1 red date and 1 coin...lol......just wondering if there are anyone out there that practice this same tradition? btw, happy 'Rat' year to you all.....
lol, at the 'snacks box' i mean its pretty weird ^^ , and taste funny haha, maybe im no used to eating 瓜子 and other stuff lol,
i didn't like everything in those snack boxes... i remember there were sugar coated lotus root (糖蓮藕), sugar coated lotus seed (糖蓮子), sugar coated coconut and sugar coated "dong gwa" (糖冬瓜) in those boxes... i'd always go for candy n "kwa chi"... n i used to pig out on chocolate gold coins, lai see tong and those sugus candy!! lai see tong best CNY candy!!
lol the best were those 'suga' ones lol, wasnt thre the real ones in the stick form, and the 'fake ones' , lol is it me or do i find the 瓜子 like really salty lol
hahaha... i think it's just u... the red ones doesn't really have much taste... i just like to get it out of the shell hahaha...
wouldn't that be painful if u weren't paying any attention whilst eating the dumplings. its a clever idea though.
yeah... that's wot i thought... n i've always thought money is one of the dirtiest things in the world
