There are alot of Chinese in Philipines and Vietnam. Most ppl in Vietnam even speak Canto. So you can be Vietnamese Chinese. Just like American Chinese. I have friends who are born in the Philipines and South Africa. They can't say they're Filipino or Black or White.
yeah i've met a few of those. Lots of vietnames ppl always claim their half and in some cases that maybe true..since Vietnam is fairly close to China. one of my close friends claimed she was half chinese and i've known her for pretty long and from my perspective..she clearly isn't cuz i've met her whole family and yeah they just don't seem like it. I have another two guy friends that are both somewhat the same thing..one guy admits he's vietnamese and always tries to be honger...the other is again clearly vietnamese..but claims that he is chinese and originally his parents taught him the chinese language at a young age and then changed it to viet..which I think is just sad bs...btw he even said it himself..he doesn't think any viet should be proud to be viet. In regards to that opinion..i remain neutral lol.
Since when is it cool to be Chinese? Its not that I hate to be Chinese dont get me wrong, but I dont think it is THAT cool to be Chinese. I wonder why ppl like to fake to be Chinese.. no need XDDD
chinese posers. lol, in my vocab i call them WANNABES! i know SOOO MANY! So many viets who wannabe chinese, and the worst is when a white guy tries it (no offence to anyone, but I have met people who are just NO WHERE near being chinese and they try to be chinese....) it gets even more annoying when they randomly spout chinese words which they probably begged their chinese friend to teach them... I just find it annoying when viets try to be chinese though...that is THE most annoying I've come across... bloddy beggers.... sorry, it just gets on my nerves a LOT! But yeah, both my parent are from vietnam, but my grandparents (both mum and dads parents) are from China AND Vietnam (uhh...think grandad is from viet and nan from china....or sumtin....), so I'm half half, but I speak full chinese, and don't speak vietnamese...so it depends, people can say I'm half half which is true, or can just call me full chinese. The second "poser" doesn't really make sense. Just because you weren't born there or speak any chinese doesn't mean you aren't. I'm in America and I was born here, so are my friends. Some of them are 2nd generation Americans meaning their parents were born here and a few of them don't speak any chinese because they didn't grow up learning it much. This doesn't really change the fact that they're still chinese. You're concept is strange... (I'm Chinese and the people I refer to are chinese or at least... our ancestors are... -_- because from what you're saying, you're just saying that my friends aren't chinese...)
the vietnamese chinese thing. i heard because older chinese groups moved to vietnam, but they gathered in a place some kind like china town, so they still keep their traditions in the middle of vietnam. so their kids can speak chinese and vietnamese
haha whoaa yaa soo manyyy...but the people that want to be chinese in my area are all white. Like they tryy soo hard to speak chinese... and hang out with all these chinese people, and like ONLY chinese people...it's very...very poser-ish. but alota chinese people i know don't want to be chinese
yea people lie that they're chinese to me all the time and i believe them until i start spouting mandarin or cantonese at them and they're completely like wtf? and i feel like such an idiot for believing them -_--
I haven't really came across anyone that does that. Most of my close friends are chinese anyway. But I don't really see a point in doing it. Cause its quite easy to tell if you are chinese or not from looks and accent.
