Yes they are....they just don't get the proper training like the english restaurants do with standards
In general, if you're talking lower economic strata, then I would agree. Chinese people in the upper tiers tend to be a lot more conservative and well mannered. Even if they're not, they know how to put up a good show. I don't know about fingering somebody's entree, but I recall witnessing a Guangzhou waitress sitting in the relatively empty dining room that we were eating in, paying us no mind, raptly popping her zits in a mirror while she was talking to a co-worker, who was equally self absorbed picking her nose. Needless to say, we skipped dessert. LOL... :ugh2: Ralph
I live in Vancouver and most Chinese restaurants have impolite servers. But maybe I should sympathize with them because many of the patrons are quite rude also, especially the "wealthy" ones who think the servers are slaves to spit on.
