Censorship IS harsh by definition, as it should not have exist in any form. As other has said, it is one mean to maintain the power imbalance and privilege in China. As US do censor media in a grand scheme (never showing the other side of the story when they attack), I guess it is just the way it is. I certainly hope it will vanish, but I have a feeling that censorship will outlast us all. What a terrible thought.
hmmm....i do agree china is a little be too strict on censorship...for example...a lot of hong kong movies got ban to be showed in china for stupid reason...china should really relax a bit...but then again...it is not a democracy country
anyone here heard of the censorship in north korea? they only have 2 tv channels, and all they talk about is making north korea more powerful and kim jong il...
The existence of harsher or more heavily propaganda-ed censorship in another country (or -ies) does not mean China doesn't have censorship NOR that censorship is not wrong.
