well, let's look at it this way, having a photorealistic Actors/actresses to play in a movie requires time... and lot of time, I know, I do this everyday, You gotta first make realistic characters, the textures has to be convincing, the 3dmodelling tools nowdays have come a long way so it's definitly easier now than back a few years. Let's give an example you know the CGI movie Final Fantasy Spirits within? it's said that the crew wanted the main female character to have quite long hair, why doesn't she in the movie then? because, it would take a year just to extend the hair 1cm at the time, with that technology. of course, nowdays it's alot easier, but still it takes time and money to make CGI. And even if the 3dmodels look real, we have the problem of making them move realistic also, alot of current gen CGI movies suffers from bad animation in the faces which makes them look really stiff and unrealistic. and then we have the last problem... rendering the photorealistic material, it takes time, the more advanced your movie is, the more time it will take to render it out, and if something get's messed up during rendering, you have to start all over again, until you get it right... which sucks and takes time:/
Sometimes I ask myself or the notion of creating a perfect photorealistic 3d images. It is a test of skill? Hobby? Or if one can pull it off means they are advance advance? To me in CG movie production, I don't really bother, photorealistic won't be my priority. Sure, unless you are required to do a realistic graphics to support films, like, pirate and the carribean or spiderman, that's alright. The closest to ever a real photorealistic image was the one of Micahel Jordan's face. Looks almost perfect, but not so. Is fun in a way to tease nature and play around how you can get it to photorealistic perfection. Anyway if i have a choice to do a 3d films will be higly base on creativity skills, none that are related to what we already know on Earth. Thanks for the pics though

Aint really had a chance to use it that much. I think its pretty compliucated as i have never used it b4. Try looking 4 tutorials and u should be ok. If u think Maya is quite hard to use, try taking a step back and look at the beginner version: 3D Studio Max. Ive used it, a couple of times. quite easy after looking at tutorials.
I recommend downloading some of these (if u have enuf free space on ur pc). http://www.mininova.org/search/total+training/seeds http://www.mininova.org/search/lynda+com/seeds Very useful training methods. Ive currently mastered Photoshop CS2 from just looking at the tutorials. Very highly recommended that u download some training materials.
