  1. yea the 8600s are well within the price range.. but thing is.. I doubt it'll still be good in the long run..??

8600 is garbage, im running one atm and its already out dated. i cant even use direct x 10 on most games because it lags too much.

i tried to play hellgate with DX10 but the frame rate was terrible so i had to switch it to dx9.

get an 8800 or look at what ATI has to offer.

  3. lol i dunno.. I jus don't quite trust ATi.. they seem to trail behind nvidia most of the time.. or I've read...

I guess I'm for sure getting that 8800.. but freakin'.. I don't wanna pay 270+ for it.. and quite a few places are sold out of 'em... =/

Actually ATI isn't not bad. nVidia is leading the GPU market at the moment. If you don't want to drop the money on the 8800GT, don't get the 8600. Your next best bet is the 7900 GT XXX.

ATI aint so bad.. cheaper than nvidia.. but most people like nvidia though >.< btw if you live in the US, go to Radioshack for a 600w PSU.. pay $70 rebate $40 after rebate cost will be $30.. im planning to do a psu upgrade also..

  6. do you know the brand of it?? is there gonna be enough wires in the thing?

anyone know if the galaxy brand is good?? its 247 shipped with 20 dollar rebate..

XFX, BFG, eVGA all good nVidia card manufacturers.

  8. yea.. I'm not gonna mess wit the rebate thing..

ahh it's killing me.. it's like I can damn near buy a new PS3 with the money on the vid card and power supply.. all the places that offer a tad bit cheaper than MSRP are all sold out.. I don't wanna wait 2-3 weeks for it...

    what am i to do..

    Oh, it's a Thermaltake. Nevermind.
When he said Purepower I thought it was a generic brand.

I'll keep a look out for some decently priced Graphics cards.
Btw, what kind of computer do you have?

  15. just a weak hp with q6600 quad core and 2gbs of ram...

but now I've been thinking.. is that directx 10.1 gonna be an important down the line?? seems like the 8800 Gt only suppor dx10.. whereas ATi cards support 10.1 less expensive and seem to be easier to find...

    now I'm really lost.. =/

Is it a pre-built system or did you build it yourself? The newer motherboards are often designed with a specific chip-set that are purpose built for ATI or nVidia

-lol Your system is a bowl of mixed fruits.
