If you were speeding that hard to dodge unless you know somebody that works in the court that's a friend of the cop that cited you. That's how I got out of my last ticket. ;D I felt so 1337

Haha that's not so bad.. I got slapped with a $436 ticket for making a right turn without stopping at an empty intersection ):

Yea.. It was failure to stop. I make the same turn all the time and I never got hit with it. The flash from the camera even went off before I even hit the intersection.. Sucks

man that sucks. you should definately follow the cops advice and talk to the court to see if you can not incur points.

    I've gotten 2 speeding tickets.

First one - cop was setting pace on the road driving an unmarked/non-traditional vehicle. I blatantly sped past him and shot him a dirty look for hogging up the left lane. I was handed 2 tickets... speeding (going 75 in a 60), and passing on right. Total cost = $500, but I was cut a deal when I went to court for it. Reduced the fine to $125, no points.

Second one - I was driving home, and I was on the left lane. I wanted to move over to the middle lane, but there was this car that was next to me. I kept waiting for him to either speed up or slow down so I could get over, but he kept driving the same pace as me. I sped up in front of him, passed him, and subsequently got pulled over by a cop who was out fishing. I was lasered at 70 in a 50. I had to pay for the ticket in full $300.

I don't know how it works in other countries, but if you're living in the US, depending on which state you're in, you should try and plead not guilty and go to court. Some jurisdictions allow you to plea bargain, and they'll offer you a lower fine or a violation that doesn't carry as many points if you go to court.

If you go to court and plead guilty, not only will you have to pay the fine for speeding (which is probably like $200+), you will also have to deal with increased insurance premiums for the next 5 years because you are deemed to be an unsafe driver. Add all that up, and it just isn't worth it to plead guilty.

Also, get yourself a radar detector. Although nowadays, a lot of the states in the US use laser instead of radar.

Just go to the address show on the back of your ticket, tell them you want to set a court date, probably be like 9month to 1yr grace period. During this time be worry-free work your ass off to save like $250ish for ticket fighters.

In worse case scenario, they lose, you get fine reduction and they pay for it. If they win, don't need to pay/nor no point loss. It's your first ticket, there's no need to worry much in all honesty, my friend got 3 multiples - 1 where he ran red/failed to wear a seat belt/going 100 in a 60 zone, yada, yada.

PS. Did the cop show you the radar when you got pulled over?

in US and first offense, you can attend "Driver's Education" class and it won't go into your records nor pay the fine. Just need to pay the Driver's Ed class fee ... which usually comes up to about the fine. So same amount of money, waste a whole Saturday being bored in class; but, on the up side, no negative records on your insurance nor points.
