I'm in Australia and I'm using broadband so Broadband I remember the annoying dialup sounds when connecting...about 3 years ago >.>
tbh broadband is much superior to dial up and the cost is the same if i am correct if not less as long as u get the slowest speed which is still much quicker than dial up. also, broadband doesn't tie up ur phone line which is a benefit and is connected all the time and also allows ur connection to be in a network so that multiple computers can go on the internet at one time.
dialup was sooo much fun (once i got a better isp that is hehehe) old one alwyas had that busy dialing tone >< and limits u to 3hr sessions =/ and to be stupid enuff to join on a 1 year contract... ahhaa in the end me and all my friends used the same acct =D then the fun bit was seeing how long u could maintain a single connection! =P i had the connection on for like 3.5 weeks! until i had to restart computer ><
me n my ex bf used to share an accout for a lil while too... n for some reason we managed to connect at the same time... but i think his isp found out n sent him a letter so we had to stop i remember i used to get d/c every 4 hrs with Primus
Dial UP Muhahahahahahahahahaha!!!! Only one exception for ppl that use dial up is ppl that travel and can't afford wireless. I live in aust, worked in ii-net, i/primus, optus and now telstra. I get paid to upgrade ppl from dial up to broadband. The fact that 93% of internet companys in australia sells only dial up surprise me how many stubbon ppl there are in this country. I learnt this way; dial up is a broken services - broadband is shaped over ppl's needs to connect/find/click and watch XXX. Its still shaping. 1 month ago telstra launcher 30mbps cable There's still the hidden cost of a lan line call/ local call (disconnection results in another local call cost), clogs ur homephone and is UP TO 52kbps.! Pay a bit more get more out of it.
so obvious... BROADBAND! infact, i think my friend said it would cost more to have dial up. can't really imagine WHY you would want it. Convenience? no.. blocks up your phone line.. Price? no... better broadband deals. Speed? NO! broadband is 20 billion times faster so unless theres some other reason why you would want dial up, i want to know
