The part about the risk of infection would be greater for the guy isnt true. The risk of infection would be far greater for the girl.

 

If I remember correctly, when a girl has her period, it's a one way street. The blood leaves the body. Diseases are transfered through the blood stream. Having sex at this time exposes the male to amounts of blood not normally present when the female is not on her period.

In short the blood has to be in contact with infected blood in order for a disease to transfer. Since the male would be exposed to the blood, the males face a higher risk, not the female.

 

^ The question boils down to will they have intercourse when shes actually bleeding. If not, the risk technically wouldnt be higher.

 

Have sex while menstruating takes a little skill. it doesn't have to be in a shower or get really messy. I know ;-)
It is also known that sex helps the women who are overdue for birth deliver. Something in the sperm but it doesn't necessarily happen all the time. Now you know more...

For non viral infection the risk is higher for the girl, because during menses the pH level, disruption of normal microbial flora, the temperature and nutrient all favors microbial growth. the biggest danger for females planning for children is HPV. A high grade diagnosis of cerivical cancer(mostly HPV strain 16 &18) will affect the females ability to have kids in the future due to treatment( leep or cone).
