Do you ever have trouble listening to canto music?

I have the same problem too. I can only understand bits and pieces of songs. I think it is because of the way the songs are written. Some of the songs are really poetic.

 

riting and reading is differnt..riting is so hard to udnerstand

 

some lyrics are hard to pick up for me.....

 

I dont understand that much of cantonese songs even though I speak cantonese.

 

If it's some crappy singer singing rap. It'll be pretty hard for anyone to hear anything -sweat

Nope, no trouble, unless you're listening to some HK artists (there are a lot) who claim that they are "singers" and who can't even speak properly, so don't even talk about singing the words out.

 

Yes. Very often. It's hard for me to grasp what they're saying even if I speak Chinese fluently.

 

I have that issue as well from time to time.. then again i suppose it's because I don't read and write as much.. Cantonese is full of slang and we do not write the way we speak..compared to other dialects such as mandarin

 

yeah it's so weird! i think Mandarin song are so much easier to understand.

i think this kind of problem happens in ever language. Especially when they sing it really fast or slurr the words.

Yep, have the same problem. Even though I speak canto sometime I miss two words per sentence.

 

Definitely have problems, words used in songs are just too formal and uncommon to me

 

yeh.. listenin 2 canto songs are quite hard.. 2 me.. even when my canto is qutie goood.. in the songs.. they make everything in rythmn and sometimes the language used is very formal.. but when u listen a couple times through begining 2 understand ger...

 

Dont listen to the lyrics..just bob your head like you know what it means LOL..jksjks um.. i mean you can tell what the songs really about by looking at the title...
