I'm from South Coast Britain (yea so that doesn't give away much)... which is probably why I don't have an accent in my English. Anywhere approaching the Midlands is where Northern accent comes in.
after growing up in an english speaking country, i sometimes feel embarassed speaking clear english to people, especially asians, coz it makes me feel very kwei loh! lol..must strengthen cantonese...
I've gone too HongKong and no ones looked my way because of my accent. They do tend to stare at me though, I just guess I don't have the HK hair
last time I was there, the locals knew because I don't have the latest buzz words and spoke a little slow... ...da pricks wanted to rip me off in the flea market. there was even an indian guy speaking chinese with an accent. LOL. u should have heard this guy, exactly like the indians in the Chinese TV...
Nope but did have one when I was little. Guess grew out of it after conversing with so American people and hardly with any Oriental people.
Originating from a Cantonese background, I can't help but to insert 'lah' and 'loh' at the end of my lines when I speak. Other than that I sound rather normal.
How would u kno -unsure Well...I know I've got a British accent >.< Dunno where the London one came from -unsure
im pretty sure i don't have a chinese accent when i speak english..and then again..who knows considering no one ever tells me and i do hang out with asians....however..i do have an accent when i speak chinese
