i love the game, cept i need to know all the different combinations, i really wanna learn the taiwan ver. lolll anyone watch House of Mahjong?....i wonder if they are real
taiwanese style just makes it more exciting because u have 16 tiles each but u dont use the last 8 sets. so u can have scratch games. combos are a little different, like you cant have certain ones like 13 tile combo wins but overall fairly similar. and if u keep winning it multiplies your winnings but if you throw out the losing tile on a streak then u get docked heftily too. but yea. what annoys me is that all these fricken mah jong games out there are some bs solitaire match up the tile bull that americans think is mah jong. so ridiculous. i dont play often cuz it get skinda boring but once in a while its fun.
i didn't go through the whole thread but is there a site that tells you what each "hand" is? i just know how to do the most basic one... and theres no one to practice with so i always forget and i dont know how to count points or anything.
^^ we actually had a mah jong set at school in the cafe. there would be a table for chinese chess, a table for big 2, and a table for mah jong. it was basically asian central those 3 tables. but what was ironic was a white guy brought the mah jong tiles to school ????
i love it, but i don't like how it is always percieved to be linked to gambling, can't ppl just play for fun?
To find players is a problem. I play the game on the PC against the AI. Hence my Mahjongg skill is really really bad.
Of course it is. Mahjerk is gambling haha. You win money for 'eating' and for the combinations of your hands.
i aint played it before, it looks like it takes ages to finnish, ill play it when i grow my wise man beard
YUP, there are gambling places filled with mahjong tables. The sterotypical mahjong player is a middle aged housewife who spends hours gambling in mahjong. actually one game of mahjong is very quick. can be as quick as a few minutes and usually don;t last more than 10 mins, unless u play extremely slowly but ppl usually play more than a few games. usually about "4 circles", as they say. 4 circles is at least 16 games, which is around and 2-3 hours
