there are some singers that can sing but they never got the recognition of being famous instead they are underrated such as Kay Tse.

some can sing great, but some just needs time to practice...

    The_Jelly NSFW? :P

Some of them start out originally as singers or as actors. But in their contracts they're required to sing & act. Henceforth the bad singers/actors that were originally singers/actors. Anyways, nowadays if you have a decent voice along with technology to tweak your voice it won't sound too bad and sometimes even pretty good.

strangly enough I actually think many actress begans their career as singers than get involve in movies and tv series. I think some actress can sing pretty good, but some are just there, because they are just playing around.

Hk singers that can really sing nowadays...with great vocal..maybe only a few like Eason and Hacken . Generally, hk singers are no where compared to western international artists. No wonder album sales in HK are dropping so badly now.

I really dont think a lot of them can sing.... the new ones mainly.. people like hacken lee who is still staying in the business is pretty good.. nowadays i think its mainly beats, melodies and looks.. >< not very satisfying when what makes a singer truly good, is their voice

some can sing great, some can't and it also depends on people's taste in music style.

I like one of the earlier poster's comments. Sure, some of your favourite current artists like Janice and Joey are talented, as you say, but is their music going to last 10-15 years from now? Just look at the Beatles. They disbanded over 30 years ago. They're still being played on the radio. I mean, with female HK singers, there are no higher standards than Teresa Teng or Anita Mui. TT released her last album long before some of you were born, and yet, her songs are still being played/performed today. Same with the 4 Heavenly Kings. Their primes were in the early 90s. How many of their earlier songs are still being played now? Plenty.

You could always say, oh hey, look at the number of awards people like Eason get. Yes, that's because they're comparing him to the rest of the industry. Remember what they said in the 4 Heavenly Kings movie? The industry's revenue plummeted over the past decade, which means that the likelihood of the "best" in the industry being better than the best of yesteryear is low, considering the relative lack of depth of talent in the field today.

10-15 years from now, who's going to be playing stuff by the Twins, Janice, Eason, or whoever? They're good, but I'll have to get back to you once I dust off that 10-year-old album by some girl called Joey Yung.
