i'll usually only leave it on overnight if i'm downloading something. Leaving it on 24/7 consumes a lot of electricity rite? But i heard if you turn off the monitor only when not in use saves up to 60%
hmm... i rarely ever turn off my desktop. maybe i'm just lazy lol. =P but i've never had any problems with it. the longest it's ever been on, could be anywhere from like 3/4 weeks to maybe a month or two.
Well, depends on the time of the week, usually weekend, i will leave it on from fri till monday morning, most of the time to download torrents. As for electric bill, I am not too sure whether it has increased or not becoz 2 of my housemates do the same thing, leave their laptops on the whole night, not everynight though. Its not good for a laptop, the heat and the overworked harddisk. Esp summer days, its better to have a fan on, or laptop cooler to make sure it is not overheated.
i leave my computer on 24/7 when i have things to download. i can't remember how long i left my computer on for...probably a week or maybe more.
my is 24/7.... esp my Audio/video Media server... its been on since 2005... the last reboot was like nov 2006..
All my main computers up 24/7 for years. My AV Software is always up to date. My design is 1 PC/floor. I have 2 floor plus one basement. I do run a server running in my basement and a Cisco switch for routing and firewall plus a wireless access point so I roam with a laptop anytime I want around my home. I decided to shut off my RAID storage because it is eating too much juice. Imaging you having 15x146GB 15KRPM disk spinning in your basement. Definately keep your basement warm during winter. heheheh...
i dont even know how long i let it on XD im just a bit lazy.. and i dont care the bill since my parents pay it
Mine's on 24/7. I reboot it maybe once a month and its been on for like 3 years now. LOL maybe its time for a new computer... but it seems to be working fine for now. ...
i leave my computer on 24/7. but that's because, when i want to use it i can use it right away without having to boot up the computer. in regards, to turning on and off the computer. it is a very debatable topic as some of you have pointed out.
