For me.. I am just too lazy to turn it on and off and on.. so i leave it on lol and BT at the same time of course~
I have left my omputer on for like a month. The only thing i ever have to do is close down the programs and reloading it again. And YES i do have a large phone bill, but its eaiser to leave it on because i always seem to use it enough. If i do turn it off, i always get angry for the amount of time it takes to rebot. Does anyone have ways to speed up ur computer, without buying more memory or cleaning up your system regully(defragment) cuz i tried both already and it seems like it doesnt' go as fast as it was at first.
I used to leave my desktop on 24/7. However, as it is in my room, it creates alot of unnecessary heat and noise. Especially when I am trying to sleep. Alot of my applications that I like to leave on have been migrated to my old linux laptop which I do leave running 24/7. Though I still leave my desktop on about 75% of the time as that is still where I do my downloading (Torrents, emule, HTTP, ect).
I'm curious to know if you have a source for this. Heat is always an issue with computer components, but I would think that the newer notebooks (especially those designed to be desktop replacements) would be built a little more robust. But I don't have any source on that. It's just my opinion. I personally keep my notebook running 24/7 (and only turn on my desktop when I need it) because it consumes a lot less power than my desktop. I usually keep it on a notebook chill pad to help keep the temperature down.
I use to leave my comp on...but that was long time ago...when i had to download stuff through bittorrent...now I download a lot of things through direct connect...much faster and all the Dutch universities are connected to it..but for Asian stuff I have to use bittorrent...but i'm more patient...don't have to get it as fast as possible because i'm not following the TVB series..if I was I would leave my comp 24/7 on just to get the next episode...TVB series makes me more addictive
hmmm last time I turned off my computer was probably December excluding crashes, which was last month.
I left mine on a lot before.. but I turn it off more now because my screen is getting afterburn from the background image although it's epik high so I don't mind having the imprint of that show up on other programs.. hehe
I use to leave my laptop on 24/7 and reboot whenever it laggs. I got a lot of friends that move to other countries or cities and leaving my msn on for me to chat to them is a lot less than what my phone bill use to be. Lately if Im not dling anything, I put it on standby at night or when Im studying. I got my laptop back in 2002, so it one of those old ones where heating up is a concern, therefore I keep a fan underneath it. Ever since I done that, it doesn't lag so much no more. I haven't had much problems with it, mostly heating. Compare to my friends who brought like dell, had their hard drive burn out since they always left it on and where dling on it. Also use to have a old desktop back from like 1999, and I remember I use to leave that on all the time for a few periods or I would have periods where I wouldn't shut it down and start it everytime I used it and I used it on a daily basic. And it from what I know, it would fine. My brother using it right now till he gets his laptop and he leaves it always on.
the only time when i turn off my comp is when i restart it n thats like probably once a week its fine i been using it for like a few yrs
Mine is mostly 24/7 on but I usally shut it down at monday morning when I go to school for a few hours. to let it rest a bit
