if u live in the bay area, come out to san francisco on the weekend of the 22nd, for either day (22/23) from 10-5:00 to see what dragonboat is all about =) there'll be festivall and races going on at treasure island on the coast of san francisco downtown COME! www.sfdragonboat.com for more info
i heard the canadians dominated the event last year. the americans better beat the canadians. good luck!
Just started dragon boat this year, it actually works the muscles in your lower torso more if you do it right. I've been told though that if you're sitting in the back you can't quite see all the way forward w/o leaning out of the boat so you look at the person sitting diagonal of you
mm kinda, you always look to the steer (the person on the front row) that is on the opposite row that you're sitting, and that's for timing yeah it works torso and everytnhing elwes ^_^
^ I know ur suppose to watch the steer but I just watch the guy 2 rows to my diagonal and hope he's in time cuz some of the guys on our team are huge
if a team works well together then all you really need to do is look at the top hand drive of the person in front of you. if not then this is how you get the caterpillar effect when people are out of sync. the paddle goes in together and out together. if you look at any other direction but forward (unless if your the coach is paddling) then your concentration is most likely to mess up your timing. so the best thing to do on timing is just to look forward and trust on your teammates paddling to keep the timing together. this is the difference of how good and bad teams paddle. all it takes is just one person to mess up the timing and your team is out of sync. teamwork is very important.
caterpiller effect is funny when ur watching others lol, there's a college race in the bay area this weekend xD
mm my team is goin to vancouver race in 1 week i believe, i can't go though T.T no $$$ to kill heh. im going to long beach probably, in 3 weeks i think a few local races like one on fremont, and of course probably treasure island since im from the sf
wow vancouver.........i remember the portland dragonboat team dominating that event last year. i almost forgot that the vancouver festival is around this time. vancouver is definitely a pretty competitive place to race. good luck to your team!
did it for two years, and then college came and i kinda miss it =/ theres so team at my school. i go to a white school so....sucks haha DRAGONAUTS!
