It's not the smell it's the horrible combination of the texture and flavour.. And it's gross cause my mom always forced me to eat it. Now I've had enough of that crap.

I think it tastes great and smells good too, I don't know why others say it smells bad

I love the fruit but I hate the after taste of it in my mouth. I remember eating it once when I was out with friends and we couldn't get rid of the smell even with chewing gum and mints >.<

I dont mind the fruit, I don't see why people hate the smell/taste of it, it's quite nice :)

Have you tried durians from Malaysia? I particularly like the 'kampung' or village ones...they're the ones with a thinnish layer of golden-orange flesh; not too creamy, sweet with a just a tinge of bitterness...they're good at room temperature or chilled (though that isn't really a good thing to do to your fridge)...and then wash down the durians with loads of mangosteens!

Not a big fan eating durian on it's own. If it's mixed in a smoothie or ice cream then i enjoy it.

I'm not a durian fan. I really can't get past the smell of it.

I've hated the smell since young, cos my parents always had it, but ive given it a try before and ive gota say, it is gross - tastes like raw onions to me. I guess its similar to marmite in the sense that 'you either love it or hate it'

I never seemed to be afraid of the smell.
Maybe cause the first time i Had it was eating a "fresh durian cake"
very very nice ^^, mum learnt it in HK or sumfing...
had a chocolate base rather than teh cookie dough....

Funny how you either love it or hate it
