I don't know what's with the hateful replies :/ But in the current generation, if you think Eason can't sing, then you haven't listened to enough HK artists. Sure, there are lots of good singers out there who aren't yet recognized or have already left the industry, but as of now, Eason is one of the best singers out there. To those of you who kept bashing him, please view his live performances and listen to his higher-difficulty songs, then post your opinions. Joey has improved a lot over the last decade, but she still lacks the range and power that some artists (e.g. GEM) have. Leo is also a good singer - I personally believe he is one of Eason's competitors. Mind you, I don't like Eason's attitude either, but you need to understand that over the years he's been in the industry, it's not his first time being disappointed in the music industry. There's a reason that he idolizes Jacky Cheung and is close to Harlem Yu. He can tell what makes a good singer, a good singer. He has the skills and ability, just not the attitude. You can't say he's not a good singer just because you didn't like his attitude.

Eason's one of the last generation og from hk before it turned to shit with langmo's n comedians being more famous then actual talent, i have to admit he started off crappy but over the years he's become a great singer.
I agree with you wholeheartedly! EVERYTHING you've said is what I've always thought about Eason and the HK music industry. I think his ability to sing is one of the best in HK right now, BUT his obnoxious and, often times, annoying attitude turns many people off. One thing I do admire about his attitude is that he has the balls to criticize. I don't think there are any other singers in the HK music industry who can say such rude things and can still put out top earning albums and get "awards" (for whatever they are worth). On a side note, when I saw this article title, I thought that it was a big deal, but much like GEM's old blog resurfacing article, I thought this was not as bad as it sounded. Seriously, this, to me, is the media blowing something completely out of proportion.
Aren't these two considered in the same generation as Eason? If this is the case, why are you comparing Eason to them, and not to the 20-30 year vets that you speak of? I'm a Chilam fan, and Leo is alright, but the fact that they both can sing doesn't mean Eason can't. Do you dislike Eason's singing, or do you dislike his music? I hate it when people think the singers are bad just because they hate their music... do you realize that, with some exceptions, singers often don't write/compose their songs? Just because you don't like their songs doesn't mean they aren't good singers. I personally don't like many of Eason's songs, but he sings good.

I'm not going to bother investigating the reasons behind your hatred; but this only makes me think that you're being overly subjective. I didn't say that you were mad about his attitude; instead, it seems like you have personal feelings against him which led you to state that he can't sing. I'm fully aware people have their different views, and I respect them, but your expression that "Eason can't sing" seemed rather opinionated and stated as if it were a fact - with which most true music talents would disagree. Again, it seems like you're being too personal and totally overlooking the actual debate here. It seems to me that your hatred is based mostly on his attitude and his views of singers and the music industry, rather than his actual talent. I didn't say that singers who compose are more talented - if anything, I meant what you meant. I was under the impression that the reason you thought Eason was a bad singer was because of his music. I was trying to say that what you may not like is the composer's music rather than the artist's singing.

Whether you think he's good or bad, It's still just your OPINION. The fact is, Eason had done well for himself over the years and he is one of the top artists in HK, China and maybe Taiwan. He at a point where he can say certain things younger artists won't dare say. That's how it goes with other famous senior artists. They have aren't afraid but he just too blunt which make him sound like an ass.
I never liked Eason much. I don't follow Cpop too closely, so I don't actually know ANY of his music. The only male artists I listen to (and count as my favourites) are: Leslie Cheung, Jacky Cheung... and a few randoms here and there.

riiiight....No one said it's A fact...like i said, it's MY fact, which means, my opinion.......Leon lai back in the days held many concerts also...many people liked him...Shit, he was even named one of the heavenly kings matching with andy, jacky and aaron.....does that make him a good singer....lmao....
