this problem about the chinese ppl most not all want to have boy cos passing the generation but this is just stupid. I still think it will never beeing like changed the chinese ppl thinking. And its not just India having that problem just see China still overload with ppl with want a boy.
The terminology- Asian is a very broad . We have the East Asians, the South-east Asians and the Middle East asians (indians etc..) On topic though, the guy is an absolute idiot. He should be blessed that he was given twins!!!
Well, it's not like Indian is the ONLY culture which prefer male over female (with good but ancient reasons). Back in the normad and farming times, of course it is preferable to have a son than a daughter because they can partake physical work out (and do not require dowry) thus more "economic" than daughters. The same in fact can be said of Chinese. The current Chinese population in mainland China has an extremely imbalanced male-female ratio around 140 (male):100 (female). Sociologists predict many social problems will result due to such imbalance. Well, I will wait and see...

@Fearless: The "lots of people" are always from aboard, for locals who wanted to get rid of their own girls to begin with sure as hell wouldn't adopt another girl from someone else's blood. That case is just highly unlikely. @ch0ps7ix: Too bad there's only one her and millions of orphans. Don't think we can rely on her adopting them all. In general, the adoption system is not very well organized especially in less developed countries, it has been KNOWN that Chinese orphans "adopted" by Westerners resembles "selling"... So I have little faith in the whole adoption bubble.

But really, I think it would be best if nothing's done, I know a preference is a preference, but if the parents do not do anything about it (kill the girls or something), the gendar ratio wouldn't be so messed up. Well, don't really think that's going to happen because most of the overflowing guys come from rural China (or semi-rural China because somehow in the cities the thought of "having a guy better than a girl" is not as rampant) And rural people have a THING against homosexuality (due to background, because homosexuals cannot reproduce and thus have NO USE for farming and some such, so it is oppressed beyond any belief)... so no. Won't really go homosexual, them.
Seriously tho, getting back on track, the ratio somehow doesnt seem so bad in regards female/ male in the cities at least the ones ive been so far, statiscally speaking no doubt that the ratios are unbalanced. The government should be responsible since they fine ppl a large sum of money when ppl have more than 2 pregnancies and should those babies not be boys, tough luck. Hopefully that the mentality will change soon. The semi rural communities are slowly shifting from working in the fields to working in the factory since it's paying condition is somewhat better.
But it is still having the problem of gender imbalance... because females (for one reason or another) are more likely to be able to go to cities (or at least bigger towns) to work (more work for them) while male remain in the native town. Females are more willing to take different kinds of job such as waitress, seamstress, factory worker etc... And when a town is pretty much devoid of adult female, mayhem ensues...
Well, one day they'll (cultures who favor boys over girls) find out there's an imbalance of male/females like China now has and perhaps parents of girls can turn the rules by demanding a huge sum of money from the parents of the guy because they will have a lot of optional candidates to choose by then.
