I think the HK media tends to lie cheat and steal to get people to read their junk. There were a few incidents in the US where the Chinese media used false information and reported it as legit news. Chinese people lack real ethics and morals when it comes to the news. They prefer the 8 pau gossips so that everything gets fried.

Filipinos are easy going good people. If incidents like this does happen, I wouldn't say it's their fault. But rather the harsh cruel treatment they've received from their employers, who tend to treat them like shit. Chinese people tend to love the slavery trade. Thinking that just because they pay their employers a few pences, they are entitled to own their workers.

i think your making bold statements that seem purely narrow minded and stereotypical

All media do what they can in order to get people to "buy" it, not just the HK media.

While i dont disagree that some nannies or workers get treated like shit, you cant say with certainty that every case the employer is at fault...

It's not a bold statement regarding ethics. You should try to read the Chinese newspaper World Journal.

I'm not sure if you know this, but we had a shooting at Virginia Tech a few months ago, and every other media didn't disclose what was the ethnicity of the shooter. The Chinese newspaper and the news the night of the incident were dead sure and claimed that the shooting was done by a Chinese student from Shanghai. They even went so far to fabricate the information by interview Chinese students. Funny thing is, the next morning the REAL shooter was Korean. So from an ethical point of view, how could the Chinese media get it wrong? There was a rumor circulating the day of the shooting that there was a web page journal of a Chinese student carrying a gun, etc. The Chinese media ended using unproven facts from the rumors as real news. There are ALOT of discrepancies, you just need to be aware of your surroundings and the information you're getting.

There were many Chinese on talk shows following the incident that questioned the ethics and morals of the Chinese media. If this is not a "bold" statement, I think something may be wrong.

yes you are correct in saying that some are unethical and just outright lies

but the point is, your just generalising the entire chinese media from a single "experience". Your not really looking deep enough into how the whole deal works and happened before making such statements
That is the point im trying to make, you cant just stereotype every single thing from relatively small experiences
and you never know that talk show could have been biased against the chinese media

you should always take anything from the media with a pinch of salt and consult all sources

Obviously journalism is one of their weakest links. The only ethical journalism group that is well known is the New York Times. At least they had the balls to report the deaths from the counterfeit medicine from China, which lead to worldwide scrutiny.

What about the Chinese media in China? It's all censored and edited. The media is used as a weapon by governments and owners to broadcast their own POVs. Just look at Rupert Murdoch. You're only looking at it on a surface level and aren't digging deep enough.

    exactly your saying it yourself

Im not saying anything but dont make huge statements and stereotypes, because that only leads to ignorance...

if its your opinion then thats fine, your entitled to it, but dont broadcast it like its the gospel truth

long story short, This is a true incident , my girlfriend's friend , she was lucky to come home on time to discover her maid's terrifying act. In the kitchen, her maid was applying butter on her 4 months old baby with the oven preheated.

i agree with dim8sum - it's always a few incidents of extremity that causes stereotypes to be made about a certain kind of people or a certain kind of race that's, basically, very offensive. it's like seeing a bunch of little kids in your neighborhood graffiti-ing the wall and then you think all little kids in that neighborhood are the same as those you saw. what if those kids are the only ones who graffiti? unless you've seen all of them do it, for yourself, i wouldn't be to quick to make any judgments.

What the fawk. Filipino nannies snipping off penises and beating Hong Kong kids? They should be deported back to their own country.
