er... ok then... I have no idea what's going on... even after reading the replies... But meh, even if Mandarin is the official language, I think Cantonese is still the hardest to learn... and like... Kanton (Canton?) is in China, and there are Cantonese speakers there... yet they still consider Cantonese not Chinese... gah what the hell?

no offense to mandarin people, but where i live right now in new jersey, the Mandarin people/kids/teenagers are a downright disgrace to chinese people. They make chinese look like comeplete idiots,nerds,no lifes with only HW and study, they make all the asian stereotypes come true. And yea this kid i know told me that cantonese isn't chinese, he was saying it like Mandarin was superior. The kids a fag though. There are very ver yfew cantonese people at where i live, good thing im moving back to brooklyn after i grauduate from hs.
Chinese is made up of many different dialects can Cantonese or Mandarin is just one of them... but u don't wanna tell those ppl this coz they'll learn something new... just laugh at their ignorance behind their backs
