hahah had to bring this back up because the other day my friend asked me to drive her somewhere so she could meet up her with her boyfriend. we were running pretty late and lo and behold we see him driving 2 cars ahead of us! so my friend took it upon herself and called her bf to tell him he was late (he didn't know we were behind him) and his excuse was "my grandmother called and I just couldn't get her off the phone, she just kept going on and on". hahah so he lied and got caught. I just thought it was pretty funny. -tongue2 so moral of the story: don't lie! if you're late just tell the truth.
lol I like that. But I probably won't find it very humorous if I were the girl in the situation. I hate when people are not on time, unless it were a genuine emergency. In such cases, I'd rather the guy be honest and up front. And please don't use the "you're early" comeback (if that's what you want to call it). It's not funny, and would probably make most girls even more upset.
either way since you're already late the girl will be mad already at this point. better keep your fingers crossed its not on the time of the month... just apologize and buy her a drink afterwards and explain honestly...
the first thing you should do is say you are sorry and mean it! then you can continue with life. depending on the girl you may have to make it up to her or atleast try to make and effort
no excuse = good excuse too much excuses will lead to lie, soon they will think you are a liar! so straight forward "sorry, I'm late!" simple and honest, good image on you too!

im actually chronically late for work. My usual plan is to try to sneak in as quietly as possible and set myself up in my office really fast so it looks like i've been there for several minutes already.
i would say "and you're beautiful... now we're both guilty, so lets get movin"... something along those lines...
I would just apologize and tell her the truth (unless you were spending that time checking or trying pick up another girl lol). I mean things happen stuck at work, traffic (car and humans), late trains whatever.... all those are understable.
