If you looked through the last two thousand years of Asian history, you'll realize what a meaningless question this is. However, because of the younger less well read crowd here, the concern seems centered around a few popular songs within a few years ago; which is why older people lament the direction of the young. Totally clueless about anything unless it has something to do with their own tiny limited sphere of interest. LOL...

BTW, the Korean written language is based on Chinese. Chinese communist soldiers of Korean ethnicity and descent fought against the Japanese in China during WW2, and was given to the DPRK to launch a war against the south. Nearly a million Chinese died fighting on the side of the DPRK against the ROK and UN forces during the war. Korean women were sold as sexual slaves to rich Chinese merchants during the early Chinese dynasties. Korean and Chinese women were used as sex toys in organized rape camps for the pleasure of Japanese troops during WW2. Young Korean girls are pimped by their mothers to Chinese drivers on the road side (in the north) in order to prevent starving to death. Thousands of Koreans a year sneak over the Chinese border to look for work and food, like Mexicans do to the US, some are shot and killed by the Korean border guards as they try to do so. American and ROK troops on the DMZ have 90 seconds to go to war if something happens. A few years ago, over a million people in the north starved to death while the DPRK armed themselves with nuclear warheads. Korean media, recieved a nearly 10 billion dollar boost from the government a few years ago, is now considered hot properties in Asian. AKA the Korean wave, it was engineered by the ROK goverment to provide a friendlier face and to introduce Korean culture to other Asians, in order to attract more tourism and to make it easier for Asians to accept Koreans.

There's a lot of history between China and Korea, both good and bad. A few songs copied by either party? Meaningless except to petty minds who need to fritter about such things.

Dude above me provides a valient point; however, it is a needless effort to do so because of the naive "young" audience might take it for granted, perhaps?

What the old man is trying to say is that China has been the rudiments of the various asian cultures we see today. China possesses great influence in every country, especially dynasty rule. Although some of the facts he presents are questionably skewed, it possesses some shred of fact.

Scientifically speaking, the Yangtze River in China was the beginning terrain for the cradle of civilization in the Asian region (to the extent of the present science theory). Not to seem bias to China, it is reportedly so that all humans today stem from an "EVE"-like woman within AFRICA perhaps near the Nile River. This theory is realistic and objective with the use of mitochondrial DNA... too complicated to explain nor do i want to here.

Please note, being a young person myself, I frequently use this site to enjoy entertainment from all asian countries. The type of entertainment here is purposely geared towards the younger audiences so I see the level of discussion here, fitting. What does surprise me is that everyone here tries to present facts that ultimately stir up more controversy and tangents, instead, enlighten and learn... and please if any of you use wikipedia... don't, read a book.

We all copy from each other, copying is the nicest form of flattery and appreciation! You have to copy for better stuff, otherwise we have to put up with sub-standard stuff. Also you must not forget the KEY driver for copying ideas is due primarily to business and money objectives. To write original stuff is very risky, time consuming and costly. As any original budding singer song writer will tell you it is really hard to make a break for living with original materials. The song business is dominated by big players who make 99% of the money and they just like to churn out money making "safe" songs. The acid test is would you pay money for original good songs who are not heavily promoted by big record companies. And as for the North Koreans I just hope that they copy all the neigbouring countries for their sake!

i'm starting to hate "vs" threads now lol Also, please don't state random "facts" when you only have one prof...you cant just say who copies who more just by looking at one song. Everyone copies each other. THE END!

this topic pointless, who cares about songs being copied as long as they're good.
as some other ppl pointed out koreans did base (or copy) they're culture from the chinese.

I've been subscribed to some journal articles for economic development in the asian region and more often than not, the Koreans use Chinese characters. I dont know whats up with that. :/

Like Japanese Kanji, Koreans has pictographs similar to Chinese characters. Even though often the characters means similar things in Korean and in Chinese, they are not exactly the same...

The Korean movie Old Boy is a remake of a Japanese manga.

Really pointless to even start discussing the topic of originality.. cos its a really grey area. Nothing is ever 100% original. They just develop upon one another through synthesis. Cultures interact all the time.. study more into history and one will realise that the idea of intellectual property is a modern invention. Whether is it important is really up to the individual to decide...

BBgirl: To your post: Nice said.

Everyone copies everyone. Either from songs, languages, movies, and etc.
