too cheap to be real. It's like double the price for a 1992 model.

Check under the car for : odd weldings, rust, dripping liquids.
    pop the hood:
-cross check the VIN plate and check it through carfax.
    -listen for odd noise.
-look around the engine bay if there are any rust.
-IF needed, cylinder compression test. It's always nice to know your engine is healthy but then again it's not a track car you're buying...
-get it checked by a trusted mechanic.

inside the car: be a kid, play with everything in the car... i mean it EVERYTHING. (I was shopping for a Skyline and the interior was mint expect that the vents when i played with it fell right off.-shock.. The sellsman told me they had to fix it...-noclue)

Test drive the car. The person selling it usually won't STFU when you're driving, tell him to shut it and listen for noises when driving. Noises might be the cause of serious problems.

For 7-9k budget, there should NOT be rust on the body. If there are, look harder:D Don't try to be a lowballer, but try to talk the price out. Don't just "Oh 9000? Ok how many kms? K thanks..." Be confident and make the sellsman know you want it and at low price.

    I hope that helps.

If I recall well, the last time i-VTEC engaged, I felt that the car was shaking a bit more and it was making a whole lot more noise. As for acceleration or increase speed, I did not feel anything different.

It might be me, VTEC or no VTEC is the same.

you can actually like feel some of the vtec, if you go 4.5k rpm or higher, vtec is usually on, the acceleration actually is much more faster than normal. but if your trying it on a honda civic.. since my dad tried it before.. even u push it hard it doesnt go at all :D talking about 92-01 civics lol

about hondas: ive driven accords and civics.... it always feels like theres no power and then suddenly the car shoots forward. is that vtec? my friends are all like "holy shit man stop driving so crazy" but they dont understand =S

unfortunately if you get a used M Coupe your maintenance bill can you run a big hole in the wallet...german cars a major PAIN in the ASS to maintain after their manufactur warranty is up unless you know of a very good mechanic that can help you service those cars...

the honda's have very poor low end torque and you start to feel the power in the engines once you hith 3500-4000RPM and the VTEC kicks in...now if you drove a bmw or mercedes you would feel the power from the get go because there torque band starts at 2400RPM

as cliche as it is... you get what you pay for... in this case... i get almost three times more performance and three times more sex appeal than a civic... and in return i pay 3 times more for maint... good trade off imo...

just get a used one. Cars are cars...it doesnt matter if it's old or new....that's because cars (new or used) r designed to break. Some new car parts can last only 30000 miles. A used car can be modified into hot ones. U see those cars in HINs. autofest or any other autoshows? i could put money in this that most of the cars there are used, f***ed up at first. But they drop in some heavy and good sh*t which makes it brand new. Dunno about u, but i always get old and used cars. U see, like a yr ago, i trade in a civic for a stick '03 acura cl type s. Im planning to mod it soon. dunno wat to put in there yet.

  11. i really wana get an accord, wana see what this VTEC is all about.

don't get me wrong i drive a euro myself but i'd much rather put my money into other stuff instead of the occasional repair bill that i get from my car when its in the shop \

euro > japanese car unless its a gt-r

yup...i've drivin my fair share of japanese cars and after driving a bunch of euro's i'm going to be sticking with the euro's, my biggest pet peeve with the japanese cars is that at high speeds i feel like i'm in the air and the car isn't on the ground, you don't get that feeling driving an audi, jetta, bmw or benz.-smart

    unless you convince me otherwise

^ rabbiz i wouldn't buy used cars from ebay...only from local vendors

VTEC is fuken useless, i rarely push my car above 3800 RPM anyway in normal driving, low end torque is the far better choice

  20. ^ recommend some cars then!! about the £2000 mark.
