lol with 2000 pounds its not like your going to be able to buy anything with real power anyway... dont even worry about power, worry about reliability at that price.. a honda or toyota is the best bet regardless of all other factors...

    ^lol buy a truck ;) *d'oh

what exactly are u comparing though... obviously a corolla can't touch any 3 series... price range needs to be taken into consideration as well... I'm pretty confident in saying an is300/altezza drives almost as well as your basic 3series :D

Isnt the whole point of VTEC to just increase the efficiency of the engine, so you get economy for everyday driving, then high end power when you push it

So i dont know why everyone is complaining about VTEC. It does what its designed for

you should only get a used car that is a few years old, never around 5to7. that cus it is when problems start,,,always ask for maintenace bills and sht...sometimes they tell you "i just got this fix" etc. etc...then you ask for the bill so you can have the waranty transfer etc...for most cars, 1to3 years old, then 8and up would be good...you might want to skip 5to7...but the determining factors are how much maintenance/repair has been done. In general, oil changes at 5k, disc/pads about 50k, air filter at round 20k(but you can do it every 2nd oil change), timing belt at round 100k (you should change it cus if it breaks, then there are big problems), battery (every 6 years or so), muffler (4to 7 years...about), coolant...every 3rrd year...I think...

when you bring the car in, make sure the mechanic is a good one, and he checks for:
    -all liquids (transmission, brake, etc)
-functionality, *lights, heater, AC, flashers, radio, electic windows, electic locks,
    - timing (idle), etc...

that what I did with my old 911 porsche//

hehe...I;m not a mechanic...you should read some books/internet to see what you have to inspect as well.

o, yea, hondas are good...if you want brand new, try those korean cars, heard they are getting good reviews,,,and cheap

  5. awww, im getting the Accord then >.<

Exactly, that sounds good to me, slow speeds when you bring your nanny shopping, high speeds when your on an empty motorway -ohmy

:D thats fun:D look at that slow accord!!! then suddenly... zoooooom:D lolz go vtec:D i-vtec are better:D but its only on honda civic si and some acuras... if your getting a honda accord.. 94-97 models you need to get ex, which is 2 pipe exhaust mainly ex: (OO) and if your getting a 98-02 accord get an ex accord.. only ex has vtec on accords.. lol same with civic..

ahahaha sorry dim, it's not what Vtec does i'm making fun of... it's the people that think ooo Vtec = power that i like making fun of(and you aren't one of them so ;))... fact is, Vtec is a gimmick... Corvettes can do the same thing now, they get almost 30mpg cruising... toyota has VVT-i... etc... so there's really nothing special about VTEC.. and how many people here are trying to justify it?

seriously i've read comments from idiots claim VTEC = turbo... ahahaha that's how bad it gets...

i'm gettin the feeling that you don't live in the US or i would recomend you try sites like autotrader or cars.com or even better check your local newspaper they are bound to have a classified section that you can look into for a car.

@aoes i was in comparison of a celica vs the c230 kompressor and a basic 3 series. a basic 328i has the bmw 3.0L engine giving it 230hp and 200(foot-lbs)@2750 torque you definitely feel the torque at the low end when you drive the euors, while you never feel anything in the celica till you hit 3500rpm or possibly 3-4th gear

even the TL 3.2L that i drove for a month couldn't compare to the c320 i was driving earlier

however another thing that could has probably plagued the japanese cars is how they are front engine front wheel drive vs the eruos being front engine rear wheel drive

a Celica really would have a hard time touching a c230 or any basic 3 series'... hell even an e36 325 would kill a Celica... and that's just on paper...

the TL on the other hand... i think that's more driver than car... the TL is decent, not by far a great sports car... but it shouldn't be completely disregarded by a c230...

regardless of which drivetrain the cars are, each have their advantages... FFs will always be lighter, and more stable than FRs... if both cars had the same engine, the FF would win on a roll...

o_O and FF car more stable than an FR car.....i dunno about that one. the celica couldn't even compare to the jetta that i was driving and they are at about the same price level.

have you drivin a TL? they are nice to drive and look sporty yet they still have that japanese lift effect when driving 60 miles an hour and in my post i compared the tl to a c320 to a c230. the 320 and the tl are in the same price market and have similar engines and drive about the same yet a c320 feel more grounded to the earth and doesn't give you the flight feeling at 60 mph

    @rabbitz

    have you tried here? http://www.wcfcourier.com/classifieds/

@runtohell121 irronicly they are probably the same v6 engine....acura is after all a subsidary of Honda in Japan, they are just a different brand in america

Seriously, cheap cars doesn't really come with power. I always tell my friends
Choose 2 of the 3 below:
    -Fast
    -Reliable
    -Cheap

It's hard to have the 3 of them together.

that is arbitrary to your definition of cheap...if you say cheap is around 30-40K US then you can get a 3 series which is reliable, fast and "cheap" or an acura TL or even an Audi A4 2.0T

even in the 20-30K US there are a few cars that are reliable pretty damn fast and relativly cheap like the new nissan coupe, the 3.5L V6 (seen in the G35) goes for 25K US

    bbes Incredible

i think cheap and fuel efficent would be ideal considering the increase in the cost of petrol these days.
