I wear heels cuz it looks good -cool
Its not comfortable (cramps/blasters) but I just love to put on those pretty high heels....

I love the style & the way it makes me look taller with lean legs. The heels make everything we wear look better and guys want to see that... It's hurts my feet, but it's the price of beauty!

Apr 17, 2007 — Out of the 100 pairs of shoes that Brooke Bevenour owns, 50 are heels.
She spends a lot of her day on her feet as a customer service representative at Gainey Transportation Services in Hanover. That doesn't deter the 26-year-old from wearing her beloved heels.
"It's all about the look," she said. "Not the comfort."
Bevenour's style is completely put together. Her long trouser pants fall right above her pointed-toe stiletto heels, and she walks without falter. And her feet never hurt.
How does she do that?
"Practice makes perfect," Bevenour said.
Many women would love to polish off their work outfits with an eye-catching pair of pumps, but unlike Bevenour, it's just not comfortable. A day of trudging around in stiletto heels can cause immense strain on your tender tootsies. Dr. Bronwyn Wilke of Martin Foot and Ankle said unfortunately, the majority of shoes are made for fashion. Not only can stylish shoes such as stiletto heels cramp toes and put strain on the balls of feet, they can lead to problems down the road. Hammertoe, bunions and tightening of the heel cord are just the first steps to the downfall of beautiful, healthy feet.

So what's a girl to do? Is there really a way to balance style and comfort?
"You have to be diligent," said Carolyn Warman
Warman, 50, is a trainer at Leadership York. With the help of her 21-year-old daughter, Warman tries on 30 pairs of shoes at DSW to find a comfortable, yet stylish, pair.
"I don't want to be too old-lady-ish," she said.
She's found success with short leather boots with a small heel.
"My daughter tells me small heels are coming back," she said.
Bevenour said her style requires her to go for the higher heel. At 5 feet 4 inches tall, Bevenour likes to elongate and slim her look.
"I am into the stiletto," she said. "I need the heel so my pants don't drag on the ground."
When Bevenour was in Delta Gamma sorority at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, wearing stiletto heels to party all night was the thing to do.
"My feet were all smashed in the front of the shoe," she said. "I'd get that tingling sensation in my toes."
But over time, her feet got used to the shoes and now she doesn't have any problems.
Dr. Christy Leahey of Martin Foot and Ankle said it's not OK to wear the shoes all the time. They don't offer the proper arch support and they put a lot of pressure on the ball of the foot. The problems can compound over years and lead to extensive treatment such as injections and physical therapy. Even with all the problems fashionable shoes can present, Wilke said many of the patients she counsels would rather undergo surgery and take pain medication than stop wearing their shoes.
"I am a girl, too," Leahey said. "Believe me, I wear bad shoes just as much as anyone else."
But in small doses. As she gets older, she realizes that comfort is more important.
Bevenour said if you want to be able to walk in hot leopard print heels like she does, you have to do it in small doses.
"Wear them on a small shopping adventure," she said.
Wilke said to take a clue from the New York women in panty hose, skirt suits and sneakers - wearing high fashion shoes is reasonable in certain situations, but not on a daily basis.
"When you are going to work on a daily basis, shopping for long periods of time or walking, you need to think function, not fashion," Wilke said.
She said it's wise to change your shoes. Take the nicer pair along and wear them to an important meeting or a social event, but keep sneakers on hand.
"(Athletic) Sneakers are made for feet," Wilke said.
Leahey prefers New Balance sneakers.
Even more comfortable-looking shoes can be deceiving. Wilke and Leahey said the popular slide-on mules make the foot work a little too hard.
"You are gripping the shoes onto your foot with your toes," Wilke said. "It's like wearing a pair of pants you have to hold up."
So what can you wear?
Make sure the shoes are wide enough, have good arch support and have a high enough toe box with plenty of room. It's best to have your foot sit even on the shoe and have a comfortable support. If you are in doubt, be sure to see a podiatrist.
When Wilke suggests comfortable fashion shoes for her patients, they tell her they wouldn't be allowed to wear them to work or that they are too ugly.
To emphasize the lack of interest people show in other people's shoes, Wilke asks her patients what they think of hers. "They have to lean off the chair to look," she said. "My point is, people don't notice your shoes as much as you think they do."

SHOE-SHOPPING TIPS

· It's best to try on shoes at the end of the day when your feet are swollen to prevent buying a size too small. Shoes that are too small can cause inflamed or pinched nerves.
· At the end of the day, remove your shoes and stretch the foot and calf.
· Athletic sneakers are made for feet.
· Wear heels and fashion shoes in small doses.
· Buy shoes that have enough room for your foot.

SHOES, CLOGS, SANDALS

Here are a few examples of shoes that will keep your feet in good shape without sacrificing style.
Dansko's 'Myla' shoe provides good, firm arch support, has a square toe box to prevent crowding and a heel counter to keep the shoe on the foot.
Dansko's 'Marcelle' clog has the same features as the 'Myla.' The 'Dharma' sandal by Dansko has good, firm, cushioned arch support and a heel strap to keep the shoe on the foot.
