I've found a solution! For those who get the "Invalid username or password" error often, should try to download hotspot shield.
is it a save program to use? because my internet exlore is flipping after i installed hotspot shield....
hotspot shield is a VPN service that uses OpenVPN as it's engine. It inserts ads into webpages you surf, so you may see popups, etc on certain pages. However, it does indeed fix the invalid username and password error. Thanks Jouruichi! Edit: As well, I'm making my own stream as we speak. However, I programmed a script to make it delay 15 hours to fit my timezone. It basically records the stream and plays it 15 hours after it starts recording, and restreams it.
hmm but how can you watch those sopcast channels without any problems ? we are living in the same country so its not the country problem right? are you using any other running programs for sopcast? i tried hotspot shield and its worked buffer and the channels was always 100 % caus they changed my ip adress to a united states ip adress , but that program was crasing my internet explore... so i deleted it
I finished making 3 HTTP asf mirrors of TVB Jade (翡翠台) using these two links, on my server: sop://broker1.sopcast.com:3912/6019 sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6019 (Those above links, aren't links to my streams.) One is a live channel, another is a 12 hour delay for those on the East coast of North America, and another is a 15 hour delay for the West coast. Reputable users can PM me for a link for these private channels. No sharing... I don't have much bandwidth. (5Mbps upload) If I see sharing, I'll change the IPs and ports, so don't ruin it for others. - n00b3r
Well maybe we do not have the same ISP. If Hotspot solved the issue, then it means that it must be related to your Internet. I know some others here in Holland who were not able to stream the new URLs as well, so you are not alone. Maybe someone who can read/write Chinese can Google a bit to see if the reason is explained somewhere. I am not using anything special for SopCast. I am running Sopcast inside a VMWare (WinXP) session on my server. My ISP modem is in bridge mode, so the Internet modem does not do anything in my case (e.g. no routing, no firewall, no port forwarding, etc.). My server does all that.
Thanks for helping out n00b3r. To conserve bandwidth maybe you can leave out the live channel, since that seems to be working fine from SopCast for everybody. The live TVB HD one is another story though.
I read the Chinese forums and the explanation for this, is that the Sopcast "tracker" for those channels are for paid private users. However, if there is a user on that IP range that is streaming a channel on the tracker, then it would work without actually connecting directly to the tracker. It works somewhat like DHT on Bittorrent. Sopcast tracker in this case is named a broker. Phantoman: The live channel has to be running, so then I can capture/record it for the other 2 delayed channels. I don't have the live HD channel though.
Yay, finally a proper explanation! Thanks mate. Not that it will help the ones having problems though, but still Oh, yeah I know that you would have to stream the live stream for yourself, but I was talking about restreaming it to others, since you have a limited bandwidth. Just curious, what are you using to restream it with a time delay ? I guess the buffer must be huge to account for the 12/15 hour delay.
I coded a script that captures the Sopcast stream, and records it in a file. Every 24 hours, it records on to a new file and rotates. Ex. first day, it records to file1. second day, it records to file2. third day, it overwrites file1, etc. Then, VLC starts streaming 12/15 hours into the recording file1, and then plays file2 immediately after. VLC continues to loop thru the playlist with file1 and file2 in it. Before VLC completes playing one cycle, file1 would have already been overwritten with a new day's of recording. Each day of recording the TVB Jade channel takes ~5.2 GB of disk space. Hope that clarifies it. I can share the script through PM if anyone wants to make new channels using the script. Requirements are: Linux OS with 2.6+ kernel Sopcast (sp-sc-auth) VLC (0.9 +) Python 2.6 (needs subprocess library) 5.2 GB of disk space per day of recording. 11 for rotating purposes.
i guess the username/password isn't related to where you live? Im from holland and i still get the error...
Hi. I am new to this forum and my location is in Sweden, was looking for live streaming TVB chanels and found this thread. been reading through the thread and want to say thx to Phantoman and n00b3r, great effort for sharing all these info with us. so..I was trying out opt 2 with Sopcast and with no luck. when I try to connect to sop://broker.sopcast.com:3912/6019 I do get a connection, but it laggs like h*** 1 frame every 5 mins, so it's not watch-abke. and when I try to connect to sop://60.217.236.133* I will get this username/password shit. and I don't 100% understand n00b3r's explanation. so my question is: if no valid user on my IP range that is streaming a channel on the tracker, can I get around this username/password with Hotspot Shield as mentioned some posts ealier? or Hotspot Shield only works with a valid user who is streaming? or am I doomed, no tvb live for me?
Apparently Hotspot did help some people, but it installs adware on your PC which might slow down your browsing experience. You can always give it a try and see if you want. If Sopcast doesn't work for you though, then try some of the other options (if they still work that is). I do not have time lately to maintain the links.
