    When I was a kid I used to watch all kinds of Asian dramas with my mommy and the songs were always so catchy so I got into it. As I got older my other Asian friends would introduce me to different music (korean, chinese etc) and I just got hooked.

    The thread starter didn't really use it in a derogatory way though. I think sometimes people use terms without really knowing what they mean, so there's no need to get offended in this case... but for future reference... [IMG]

    By definition, the word "oriental" is considered Eurocentric because it refers to things east of Europe. Because not all Asians are from the orient it is taken as an offence.

    Oriental = inanimate objects. i.e.: rugs, tapestries, paintings
    Asian = people/countries/culture

    Anyway, I basically grew up watching Asian dramas and listening to Asian music, so I was pretty much hooked since I was kid. [IMG]

    i like jacky cheung during the 80s and early 90s. Since these modern music started, i stop listening to the new ones; but, im still listening to the classic oldies. If i were to listen to the new ones, i rather listen to american rock music. screw the modern canto-pops.

    p.s HUNNEE... i think ur pretty....lol
