If Jesus really died for our sins...

Discussion in 'Philosophy & Religion' started by drsnoopy, May 21, 2007.

  1. According to the bible some of the fallen angels who left their dominion are trapped in hell (not final hell). But not all of them, Satan is not trapped in 'hell/bottomless pit' till Jesus returns for the 1000 year reign. Satan is said to be walking up and down the earth looking for people to devour.

@master_g: I asked apollon, thank you though. What scripture states that some of the demons were trapped in temporary "Hell"?..

^While you look that up, also please find a scripture that supports your claim of God having provided a temporary "Hell" of which "some" demons supposedly are trapped in.

  6. "for if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell [tartaros] and delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved for judgment." (2 Peter 2: 4) The book of Enoch explains this in full detail.

Hell in its final form happens here:

20:14 Death and Sheol were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire." "20:15 If anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire."

^I'm confused now.... So, what do you think "Hell" is again?? A place of torment, correct?

  8. yeah as shown in the bible when Jesus told us about Lazarus and the rich man. there was torment there even though it hadn't reached the lake of fire phase, so i could only assume it will get much much worse in the future.

^Hm.. So according to that example..If taken literally, could one or two droplets of water really be a relief to a man that is consumed in fire..? I don't think that sounds reasonable.

it is to show that the intense suffrage and pain that is in hell that an insuffiicent amount of water -- like a finger drip with a droplet -- will be receive as relief for its occupant.

  11. i understand what your saying, luckily neither of us have been there to know, i believe its a spiritual fire which is far more that an earthly fire. As for the two drops of water.. imo it shows how bad it was for the rich man, a man of great wealth reduced to being content with two drops of water to cool his tongue.

in a physical sense, two drops of water would do nothing, so your correct on that.

    i agree apollon

^So "Hell" is a place of torment for humans, it is a place of torment for demons, but only for some of them and its only temporary, and again, "hell" is a place where "spiritual" fire issues forth and consumes people? Just trying to understand fully what you are saying.

btw, apollon, why don't you start counting how many times Jesus spoke of "Hell", I'm still waiting for a reply on that.

  13. Jesus spoke of Hell more than he spoke of heaven from my understanding, he died to save us from that place we deserve by default.

fell free to give us your idea of hell or weather it exists or not. were not here to Say no no no your wrong, i can only provide scripture, but how you take it is up to you.

Hell is the place where the justice of God will be served. Fire is there to serve as punishments for the sinful nature of humankind. Eternal fire and Hell are the same just expressed differently.
