  3. hiake, the meaning of that sig was, the word of God (the bible) is the ONLY book a Christian should use to spread the word, not history books or science books etc. Just plain scripture, just the word of God. if any person should think its fake or inaccurate etc then that's their choice but nevertheless that's what we must use.

arguments are pointless, whenever a question is put my way ill use the scripture to answer it, if a person wont accept the interpretation, that's their choice. no point arguing over it by using my own wisdom i can only use scripture, as i believe(hope) ive done so far.

    Thats it basically.

p.s same would go for the missionaries, to a degree i believe that the scripture was talking about the theologians who were very good with their words and had alot stuff outside of the bible to talk about and get their point across with. i think.

See, this just sounds to me (strictly from M_G's reply) as if the whole thing about Christianity is we are supposed to swallow everything written in the Bible, and not allowed to question any vagueness, or ponder upon any 'paragraphs' which are intriguing...?

Perhaps this is why Hitler relate to Christianity really well?!

Not to forget that a Bible paragraph can basically have more than ONE interpretation, and some of the interpretations CONTRADICT each other. (which you and apollon have kind of demonstrated to us when you two contradict each other with your interpretations)

So at the end of the day, how is the poor fella going to KNOW which interpretation of the Bible to accept?!

From you, M_G? Or from their local church priest? Or from their parents who are Christians as well???

If one is NOT allowed to question/ponder (according to you "ARGUMENTS are pointless") then I wonder why are humans born with brains and ability to think in the first place?

Seeing that you are a devoted follower as such, I think you should report to the website and tell them that the interpretation they host is errant. You just can't sit back and relax when a somewhat reputed website spread ERRANT interpretation of the Bible where people may be ERRANTLY TAUGHT. It just wouldn't do would it?

I'm going to dig up the "contact us" email addy for you. Make sure you do tell them of their fallacies okay?

And another thing, I doubt that "theologists" or "theology" exist during the time of the Bible (it is a relatively new thing, when comparing to the history of the Bible), so who are the hypothetical people with words of wisdom is the Bible talking about?

And somehow as intelligent human beings we should feel for some possibly fictional characters of ancient times without a proper linkage to ourselves? Do we still stone people? Burn people at stake? If taking the Bible at face value then I don't think Christianity should have any problem with abortion, euthanasia or any number of controversial issues as I am sure the Bible didn't state "Abortion is wrong" or "Euthanasia is wrong" or anything like that.

You can either take the Bible at face value and believe every single word it says and NOT implying or deriving any additional meaning to its passages, or you can live down the fact that "yes, there are things which are vague and overly general in the Bible, which in fact lack the EXACT words to be applicable to the world now" You cannot have the cake and eat it, metaphorically speaking. You cannot take whichever side you decided is more convenient and advantageous to your current argument (and yes, I noticed that Christianity tend to respond to logical inquiries with cryptic and irrelevant informations, if you and Apollon are any indication)

In that case, we should recruit more members to engage in conversations/discussion in this section!!!

  8. master_g... what would happen if a study.. say in the near future, proved that the Bible was wrong?

    hypothetically speaking of course.

That's exactly what I'm wondering too. Why did god gave human beings a brain in the first place if we are supposed to follow his rules (Bible) and not questioning it, why would he make it that hard for himself? Think of all those atheists, agnostics etc. who keep questioning His existence? To see whether man can make the right choice? Or is god testing his own abilities to create human beings without flaws? So far not all of the earthlings are believing in Him.

Does that mean he is not a perfect god?! -shock

^So that humans have "free will" ...

to believe or not to believe in Him...

...and the point in this is? To stroke his own ego if people believe in him? "Look at me, I am the greatest in the universe?" -innocent2

    Hmm -shrug Maybe...
Or maybe He would like some new souls dumped in Hell to keep ol' Satan company, when they don't -devil

...well, there's still Allah and Buddhists' Greater Overself and a numerous less famous collegues of them in other cultures...:p

Man, that would be humiliating. I am not sure if those other non-believers would welcome them with open arms, considering the fact that they 'condemned' the rest of us to the hypothetical Hell, and called us fake -devil

  15. i personally dont think theire colleagues... more like different representation of the same being...

That would be nice of Him, being so thoughtfull...

But err, shouldn't He forgive Satan self in the first place? Lucifer, the Fallen Angel, betrayed him once a long time ago but shouldn't he be forgiven by god after all those years?

  17. BabyRain

Probably cause Satan hasn't -surr to Him, I guess.
But why would Satan bother anyway, knowing for a fact that God would 'extinguish' him in time to come.

If i know for certain a person is planning my eternal demise, I sure won't say I am sorry as hell...

True as Hell, and why would God extinguish him in time to come instead of exterminate poor Satan immediately? Why is God so cruel in his punishment of Satan by sending him off to Hell?

  19. im waiting to here some wacko answers in reply to these questions :p

According to some Christians, Hell is also a place to send the rest of us non-believers to.

So, perhaps God created Hell, using one stone to kill two birds...
A place to accomodate Satan, and the non-believers.
