In search of good books

    Being There by Jerzy Kosinski (there's even a film version made out of it)

    and Oryx andCrake 'Oryx and Crake' by Margaret Atwood.

    Or maybe you can try J.G. Ballard's 'Empire of the Sun' or 'Rushing to Paradise'.

    In all of these you can find plenty of social/satirical themes to discuss about and both 'Oryx and Crake' and 'Rushing To Paradise' is even tense from the start till the end! And in both you'll think they're environmental books but they have a nice surprising twist...

    SPIEs by Michael Frayne....it's set in the 1940 Britain...

    Wow, that bought back some bad memories. A teacher in my junior high used that book as reading material. Lets just say he made the book an unpleasant experience.

    Assignments should not be dull.
    Said so, I suggest books from Mark Twain, - Tom Sawyer ... - dark humour from the dark ages of america slavery.
