I'd prefer AMD for a desktop because while they may be somewhat more unstable they run faster, iirc, have lower power consumption (usually), and are cheaper. They do run a bit more hot but thats why its a desktop, just stack fans on it.

For my laptop though, I have been relatively pleased with the performance of my Centrino, its run beautifully and has yet to give me problems except when I block off the vents accidentally xD they also run a bit cooler so its an extra plus because I can still have kids in the future.

I use to be an intel guy, but have moved on to amd. I prefer amd's architecture.

AMD all the way...use to use intel (pleased with the cpu, but AMD was just way better)

its weried how Intel and AMD rate their processors, one is 64 bit and one is 32 bit, the 32 bits usually have faster core speeds. so confusing, use the same godd*mn system

AMD is good for things like gaming (even though it has lower clock speeds its archetecture(sp?) means it works better with random calcs). Intel on the otherhand even with higher clock speeds are slower at gaming but better at things like encoding (its better at working set calcs).

As for 32 bit and 64 bit that has nothing to do with performance at the mo, its just the type of programming. 64 bit programs isnt really widely available, only thing i can think of is xp 64 bit OS and you can get half life 2 in 64 bit.

oh, I thought bits had to do with performance like it does with video card memory

AMD was meant for gaming, intel for business and other stuff like that.

either way what they were intentionally meant for...bs..its all about the user and where he/she needs from the processor...
