ipod or MP3 player?

Discussion in 'Science, Technology & Car Chat' started by puccaluv83, Sep 28, 2006.

  1. i have the ipod 30g, but honestly, the features are pretty limited.. no mic for voice recording (i need to record university lectures) no fm tuner, needs itunes to transfer music etc etc. and the back scratches very easily, even tho i have a leather pouch for it...

BUT it is the coolest looking thing, but i would probably wait for a new mp3 player with more features.

i think if olympus made a 30g m-robe video, with all the features and more, i would trade my ipod anytime =D it is soo cool, its similar to the LG Chocolate.

PS i had a lot of problems and errors with my ipod. but once you get the hang of it, its not a bad piece of machinery at all

I choose Mp3. Main reason because EVERYONE has an ipod. It's kinda sickening... I was gonna get one... but decided not to. I'm ok with my Toshiba Gigabeat.

The only time I use my mp3 is when I'm out of the house, and I have my cell for that. And if I listen to music at home I have my computer for that. Anyways, I have a nano and a iriver, personally I like the iriver better. The worst thing about the nano is when the bettery's dead then your nano's useless.

  4. i dont really understand the idea that if a technology is overrated, or everyone has it, some ppl will not buy it.. im not referring to the ipod (cuz its not a great thing) but other things like cell phones.... oh everyone has chocolate, im not buying it.. if its a good device, who cares if everyone has it, its a good device so buy it..

    please clarify this to me....

IPOD = paying for the "MAC" name ....first commericalized MP3 player in America. Intense Memory capacity. Upload song to IPOD..delete from Computer....TOO BAD...Ipod won't let you transfer the song from the IPOD itself to the computer if you make this mistake.

Generic Mp3 player = paying for a something that does everything an ipod can do....just less expensive sluggish designs. Memory capacity is not as intense as ipod...but will be more than enough for you. Act as an External Drive...upload song...delete from computer...no problem...Take it out of the MP3 player !

get IPOD if you wanna join the Matrix...
get Mp3 Player if you wanna be different and unique.

Just got a Creative Zen and have had a really easy time with it. Screen is smaller than Ipod but still watchable. I think I like the fact that it has a Radio and Recorder on it too.

ipod is good as they are compatible with a lot of accessories out there. they can now be connected to many in-car oem sound system, AV/receiver and speakers. i found it to be really good.
however i also found sony ericsson phone to be really useful as u only need to carry one device that perform both function of phone and mp3 player. It is very convenient.

I won't argue that iPod has more functions, because it doesn't. However, I think (not sure, please point out if wrong) the internal battery life of iPod is quite good (I got a 60Gb), and the fact that I have yet to be able to break it? Bonus.
My friend broke her Zen after like a month or so, dropping it on the floor. I dropped my Pod a million times on the floor, in snow and rain, and it still work (without any glitches, as far as I know) And the clickwheel is sheer genius to me (I just don't understand the way the buttons on Zen or iRiver works =_=b perhaps I am just a sucker for Mac's amazing designs)

I agree that with ipod your just buying the name. I think other mp3 players can do the job just as well, but I do personally like the ipod look more. You're also more likely to get robbed with an ipod :D.

  12. i dont have an ipod so i just use my cell phone
i dont think i need a gig of space xD
ill never reach the end of the list of songs
256 or 512 would be enough for me

I would have to say MP3. I hate ipods. I dont really like the click wheel too much, i dont like itunes and everyone has one. Im lookin into buying an MP3 player and so far the zune is high on my list.
