He has finally won an ATP Masters Shield for the year (>.<) bybeating Nadal 6-4 6-4 on the clay... hopefully that might give him a little boost for Roland Garros

oh rele, didn't know that. all i have to say is nadal won't break as many records as federer. don't get me wrong he is exceptional but federer has much better technique and nadal stays in the game from his sheer speed and force. when he gets older he will get slower and then it will be harder for him to compete as well cos he relies on his speed so much. on the other hand he will prob improve by then. anyway i don't think federer is declining, he's still just as good as he was but he's lacking in confidence against nadal and that is affecting his game. i think it's more of a mental thing.

Its definately a mental thing. He seems to change his entire game plan when playing against Nadal. His number of ace drops dramatically. He sprays the ball wildly trying to win the point quickly.

Yeah...very surprising final. Nadal didn't play too great but you never know because Nadal can turn things around especially on clay. This time, Federer didn't let Nadal fight back; Federer's was just executing his game plan too well.

In due time, we will see Federer back in form. I also believe it's a mental thing. He may be getting older but I believe his game and a better mentalitly will allow him to dominate most of the players on tour for at least 3 more years.

I think Federer is being beat mentally by Nadal. He needs to get over that before he can claim number 1 again

a win is still a win and i'm pretty sure federer will be very happy with that, it's his first time winning at the french open and now he can rest assured that he managed to win at all the 4 grand slams. i reckon he will win wimbledon this year as well.

Of course Federer is good cos he's one of the tennis legends with 14 grand slam titles. He should just retire if he has had a recurring injuries but tat's not the scenario now. Capitalising on Nadal's injury, Federer could be back to No. 1 in no time!

    And he's back to number 1 :D

Another epic Wimbledon but not as good as last year. Roddick was on fire but that wasn't enough to stop Federer from breaking the record. Maybe if it wasn't Federer on the other side of the court, perhaps if it was Nadal, Roddick may be the one holding the trophy.

federer could be the greatest of all time, but im wondering if he could beat sampras on grass (wen sampras was in his prime) and could he beat Bjorn Borg on clay?? maybe....

Asking these questions is like asking if Sampras could beat Borg or Laver on grass. In the end, Federer will be written as the GOAT for now until someone else surpass his record.

can't compare present & past tennis players, they are from different ERA of tennis (lighter & powerful racquets now)

i dont see anyone stopping the KFED express from taking his sixth consecutive US OPEN this year.....even with a healthy nadal

roddick looking good, but his wife brooklyn decker looks better

True, after the whooping he gave to number 3 and 4 in Cincy; I don't see anyone beat him with that kind of form. You'll never know though, Federer game tends to drop now and then.
