Yea.. i think smoking is a social barrier.. forms 2 grps: smokers and non-smokers. And of cos those in between. As a non-smoker, I also can't stand smoking.. but there are some smokers who are quite considerate and they dun smoke in front of non-smokers. I respect them and much willing to be friends. If both parties are willing to compromise, I believe smoking is a habit that can be resolved.
^ why is smoking such a bad thing ..... in ancient native american society they would share peace pipes with their new found friends to share a new found friendship bond with each other or to show camraderie amoungst eachother.... though we now smoke on our own what makes it so bad...? is it the health factor..... for people that live is metropolitain cities we breath thousands of unheathy cemicals a day, for people that drive ..... we expose ourselves to carbon monoxide...... if u stand in the sun.... u expose yourself to cancer causing UV rays. but hay .... dont rip on something u never tried..... as for unattractive..... thats all u... ppl have different taste....
I don't smoke at all and I don't say I hate those people who smoke but worry about their health. They should know that smoking is not good for their health and it also up to them to value which is more important. I just hate the smell of the smoke. The member here really give their good point on this topic. Smile. I am just glad that most of my dear friends don't smoke. Some member of my family smoke especially my mom. She knows that I don't like it, so she never smoke in front of me but outside.
if i have a choice ofcourse i will choose a GF who doesnt smoke. i dont care if some1 smokes or not. it is there decision to smoke it is bad for youre health and you gonna smell.

Of cos you can smoke all you want if it doesnt affect others cos no one would have cared otherwise. And btw.. smoking is also one of the contributors of the unhealthy chemicals you are talking about. That means that it contributes to the sick building syndrome. O.. and as for the drive car = carbon monoxide analogy, it doesnt work. There are reasons to continue driving. And people acknowledge that there are problems associated with driving. So they invent stuff to reduce the emission of harmful gases. And they invent hybrid cars. Ultimately.. it is a personal choice as you said. But you cannot deny that others are affected by what you do. Unless one day the smoking companies even cigarettes that can ensure that the smoker suks in 100% of those nicotine.. with no 2nd hand smoke effects, you will still have to learn to accomodate non-smokers whether you like it or not.

(we've banned plastic bags in corporate stores and we're about to ban those white to go boxes) but as u said.... it REDUCES emissions......there is always going to be something that is unhealty to ones self.... shoot have u ever been to beijing..... there is soo much carbon monocide it makes LA look clean.... n that jsut touchs on what we do.... then theres corporate damages , ie. BUT i defend smoking so strongly because in the recent month or 2 on of the next by citys banned smoking all together in public areas ... y this pisses me off... becasue i must drive through this city to smoke.... n they trying to convince other citys to do the same..... lucky california voted NO ON THE SMOKING TAX!!! WOOT WOOT!!!... stuff is expensive as it is.... ... plus i hate when ppl cough as the walk by you when ur smoking..... n im not talking bout real cough its the type that is force like they trying to say "ur killing me"... yes second hand smoke is bad... but if u dont wanna second hand ... walk around..... u dont have to walk in front of me.... n its not like ima blow the smoke in your face... ima considerate smoker... if theirs kids around i blow the smoke up n hold the cigarette high enough so that the children dont second hand... when someones in my car i ask is it coo if i smoke....(only if they dont smoke if they do i dont ask, they use to it anyways)....... n i hate it when ppl ask y u dont quit..... im 22 i been smoking since i was 16... .. nicotine is adictive... but not as bad as those commercials...... the hardest part of quiting is cutting the habit of smoking..... having the cigarette in between ur fingers and smoking to kill time.... (during breaks or long drives...)
